Ripley County Soil & Water Conservation District The Ripley County SWCD was declared a district on July 1, 1949.

The SWCD is a legal subdivision of state government, responsible for providing leadership for all conservation development of soil, water, and related natural resources for all of Ripley County. A district constitutes a governmental subdivision of the state and a public body corporate and politic exercising public powers (IC 14-32-5). A board of five supervisors, who are acquainted with the resour

ce needs and problems of the county, manage the SWCD. Landowners of the county elect three of the supervisors and the State Soil Conservation Board appoints two.

Mark your calendars for our Tree Giveaway on April 23rd! Bring a non perishable food item for a local pantry and receive 5 trees per person. This will go from 10am - 2pm or until the trees are gone. Last year we went through 400 trees in less than two hours so come early! We have 900 seedlings available this year.

This morning the Ripley County SWCD and Purdue Extension held the 33rd Annual NoTill Breakfast. We would like to once again thank the South Ripley FFA for helping us set up, make pancakes and clean. As always the food from Erica Buchanan’s catering was amazing!! A huge shoutout to Hopewell Baptist for hosting us once again.
Our food sponsor was Laughery Valley Ag. Our booth sponsors were Seed Genetics Direct, RJE Fertilizer, Fraley Implement, Menchhofer Seed - Channel Seed and Agri-spray Drone. Other program sponsors were Helena and our PARP credits were free thanks to Indiana Corn Marketing Council and Indiana Soybean Alliance.

Tonight the Ripley County Soil and Water Conservation District held its 76th Annual Meeting. With nearly one hundred people in attendance the Tanglewood was perfect for our event. Congratulations goes out to our 2025 Conservation Farmer of the Year recipient- Comer Farm Operations. We would also like to congratulate and welcome Jeff Meinders and Levi Speer to another three year term. Special thanks to the FSA ladies, Dave Osborne, Jeff Sharp, Erica Buchanan and her catering crew, and our entertainment for the night Dave “The King” Wilson.
