*Shot and Killed In The Line Of Duty - It was our Sister's first day*
Rest In Peace Police Officer Ashley Marie Guindon - U.S. Marine
Prince William County Police Department , VA
End Of Watch: 02-27-16
Officer Ashley Guindon, 28, was shot and killed after responding to a domestic argument call. Two fellow PWCPD Officers were also shot and wounded (details below). Born with a soul that has Courage to wear the Badge, Ofc. Guindon had just been sworn in with the Prince William County Police Department on Friday, 26 February 2016. Saturday, 27 February 2016 was her first night on patrol.

Ofc. Guindon comes from a family of Law Enforcement and it was inevitable that she followed in their footsteps but she had another mission to complete first. Sister Ashley defended these United States as a Faithful and Dedicated proud Patriot of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. She also earned her Masters degree in Forensic Science and Bachelors degree in Aeronautics while attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida.

added bio from PWCPD: "Officer Guindon graduated from Merrimack High School in 2005 where she belonged to the cheerleading squad and Jr. ROTC. In 2007 Officer Guindon enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve, serving as a Field Radio Operator and in various aeronautical capacities. She earned numerous awards until her tenure ended in 2013.

Officer Guindon attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University graduating in 2011 with an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Science. She later attended Fort Lee's Mortuary School, where she was awarded a meritorious mast for achieving the highest GPA in her class. In 2011 Officer Guindon relocated to Virginia to pursue graduate studies. During this time she interned with Prince William County Police Department's Forensic Services Bureau. She had a stated goal of serving as a crime scene investigator, and it was her overwhelmingly positive experience with that Bureau that led her to eventually apply as an officer.

On June 19, 2015, she graduated from the Prince William Police Criminal Justice Academy as a member of Session #36. Officer Guindon resigned for personal reasons before completing the Field Training Program, but later told friends she missed police work from the very day she left. She was rehired in February 2016 and began her Field Officer Training the evening of February 27, 2016.

Known as a bright, ambitious, and kind hearted "fashionista" by those who knew her best, Ashley loved dancing, reading and traveling. The only thing that rivaled her fascination of birds and nature was her love for her furry best friend, her pet pug, Scout. Ashley was destined to wear the badge, but her service to her community began long before her days as an officer. She assisted the Marine Corps Mortuary Affairs Office while serving in the Reserves, worked as a pre-hire with Prince William County Police Special Victim's Unit, and volunteered extensively with the Su***de Prevention Program, a cause near to her heart. Ashley Guindon is deeply loved and sorely missed not just by those who knew her best, but by everyone who is touched, not by how she died, but how she lived. Such is the fate of a hero." - Prince William County Police Department

Courageous and Compassionate, Fearless and Fair, this Brave and Benevolent Daughter, Marine, and Sister of Blue simply wanted to make a difference in her (not so small) corner of the world. May we take a part of Sister Ashley's legacy with us when we enter into our daily arenas while continuing to create our own. May we vow to continue with the same Honor, Integrity, and Valor as this True Blue wanted to serve. May we always remember Police Officer Ashley Guindon for how she Lived As Only A Hero Could. May we vow to never forget the day she gave her life running to help someone in need ...

Incident: 1737hours, Three Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence in Woodbridge for an initial report of a domestic altercation. When officers arrived on scene, they approached the front door of the home and were confronted by a suspect, later identified as the accused. The accused was armed with a firearm and opened fire, striking three county police officers who sustained critical wounds. Additional officers arrived at the residence and the accused surrendered to police without further incident. After securing the suspect, officers conducted a search of the home and located an adult woman inside deceased from gunshot related injuries. An 11-year old boy was also inside the residence at the time of the incident and fled the home at some point during the encounter. The investigation revealed that the accused and his wife were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated physically. The wife was able to contact police; however, before officers could arrive, she was allegedly shot and killed by the accused.

The victim of the domestic is Mrs. Crystal Sheree HAMILTON, age 29. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with her baby boy and entire family. We are so very sorry for your loss.

Officers provided life-saving first aid to the wounded officers until Fire & Rescue crews could get on scene. All three officers were flown to Fairfax INOVA Hospital. The two injured Officers are Police Officer Jesse HEMPEN, 31, an 8.5 year veteran of the police department and Police Officer David MCKEOWN, 33, a 10 year veteran of the police department. Both remain hospitalized.

Sadly, and with heavy heart, this proved to be our Sister's final battle ... Police Officer Ashley Guindon succumbed to gunshot wounds and was pronounced at the hospital.

Ashley leaves behind her mom Sharon, and grandmother. She was greeted at the Gates by her dad, David. who passed in 2004. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Guindon family, the Men and Women of the Prince William County PD, all surrounding agencies who came running to assist, including fire and medics, to the doctors, nurses, and staff at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, and to all whom have had the pleasure and the privilege of knowing and working along side this True Blue Hero. Special healing thoughts and prayers are with our two True Blues who were also shot, and their families.

Our Sister, as you now patrol the streets of Heaven may you continue your vigilant watch over us all as we carry on in the battles to come ... In Our Sister's Honor. We thank you for your service and your sacrifice. We thank you for your life. Job Well Done Ma'am.

Rest In Peace Police Officer Ashley Marie Guindon ... We Have The Watch From Here. SALUTE!

This is Prince William County's fourth line of duty death since the department's inception in 1970 and only the second officer to be killed feloniously in the line of duty.

Officer Guindon is the 14th Law Enforcement Officer (human) line of duty death this year 2016, the 11th to be shot and killed In The Line Of Duty this year. Four Police K-9s have also been shot and killed in the line of duty this year.
