Every volunteer fire department around the country is feeling the strain of low roster numbers, and the same goes for Vesper Volunteer Fire Department! We are actively looking for individuals that would help make this community safe and protected.

Know of a high schooler that has interest in becoming a fire fighter or EMS responder? We also offer a cadet program for those under the age of 18.

Currently we are in need of:
🔥Fire Fighters: No prior training needed. Classes are held through Mid-State Technical Collage and tuition will be paid for by the department.

🚑Emergency Medical Responders: No prior training needed, classes are held at Mid-State Technical College and will be paid for by the department.

🚛Auxiliary Member: Not interested in taking one of the above classes? We still have need for members to help around the station, at extended fire/EMS scenes and to drive our water tanker trucks to fire scenes.

If you don't live in the Vesper area, PLEASE contact other fire departments, as they would love to have you volunteer for their department!

We already have a couple of people asking for pool fillings! If you need some water for your pools this summer, we are doing our annual pool filling fundraiser! Contact us on Facebook or the number listed below.

*Tankers are 2,000 gallons and are $100 for the first load and $75 each load after if in Vesper’s response area. If outside of Vesper, it is $125 each load.*

☎️ Call Vesper Fire Department at 715-213-9808 and ask for Dale Scheunemann or message us on our page to schedule a pool filling.

• Please leave your name, address, and phone number as a message if we can't answer the phone.

🏊‍♂️ A member of the fire department will return your call to setup the fill date. Please allow 2 weeks for a fill date and complete a waiver before pool filling date.

• A pre-fill site inspection will also be performed by a fire department officer if you have not had your pool filled by the department in the past.

Today a few of our members took Truck 1 to join Richfield Rural Fire Department at the Auburndale High School to honor our local veterans in the annual AHS Veterans Duck Trip where 61 veterans departed the high school this morning with an amazing sendoff, took a buss to ride the Wisconsin Dells Ducks and came home to an outstanding welcome home celebration. We are so honored to be a part of this event and give thanks our veterans for the sacrifices they made to give us the freedom we have. Well done Auburndale Schools in providing such a memorable day for these deserving veterans. 🇺🇸

Wildfire season in Wisconsin has begun. DNR burning permit restrictions and fire danger vary from county to county, as significant snow still covers the northern third of the state and is keeping the fire risk there low. However, the DNR is suspending annual burn permits in 19 counties due to current and forecasted conditions.

The following counties are at VERY HIGH fire danger today:

Adams, Brown, Buffalo, Calumet, Clark, Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Dodge, Eau Claire, Fond du Lac, Grant, Green, Green Lake, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Juneau, Kenosha, Kewaunee, La Crosse, Lafayette, Manitowoc, Marquette, Milwaukee, Monroe, Outagamie, Ozaukee, Pepin, Pierce, Portage, Racine, Richland, Rock, Sauk, Sheboygan, Trempealeau, Vernon, Walworth, Washington, Waukesha, Waupaca, Waushara, Winnebago and Wood counties.

Any spark can cause a wildfire under these conditions, so avoid burning and consider alternatives or wait until conditions improve. Report fires early by calling 911 immediately.

Last night we packed our station with firefighters from from as far away as Minnesota and Rice Lake to learn about electric vehicles. This event coordinated by Jerry Minor and the Wood County Central Fire and Rescue Association which involves many departments in Central/Northern Wood county and hosted by Vesper Fire Department.
