Introducing May’s Member of the Month, Weston Nolan!

Weston is a Sophomore Integrative Neuroscience major who joined Harpur’s Ferry in Fall 2024. He is our current Director of Operations and was the 2025-2026 Equipment, Technology, and Communications Officer! He is an AEMT, Driver/Crew Chief/UTV Preceptor, and a Trailer Driver. His favorite thing about Harpur’s Ferry is “the culture and everyone’s commitment to excellence.”

The membership chose Weston as our Member of the Month because of his hard work in leadership, commitment to becoming cleared and training others, and being a fun and supportive member of our agency.

Spring Fling weekend recap! 🎶🚑

It was an honor to welcome Harpur’s Ferry founder Sal Caruana and friends back to the squadroom for a luncheon with our members at the end of April. Leadership also had the privilege of attending the Alumni Awards Gala to celebrate Sal receiving the Glenn G. Bartle Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award, a well-deserved recognition of his lasting impact on Binghamton University and generations of Harpur’s Ferry members.🚑🏆

Introducing April’s Member of the Month, Paige Walstrum!

Paige is a Senior Integrative Neuroscience major who joined Harpur’s Ferry in Spring 2023. She is a Driver Preceptor, ETCO Deputy, and VMO Deputy! Her favorite thing about Harpur’s Ferry is “the amazing people that make up our HF family and getting to train the next generation of providers as a preceptor!”

The membership chose Paige as our Member of the Month because of her dedication to precepting driver trainees, including countless hours teaching around her busy work and class schedule. Paige is also known as a problem-solver who is always happily helping out around the squadroom or assisting our VMO with our fleet.

Introducing March’s Member of the Month, Vidhu Kumar!

Vidhu is a Sophomore Global Public Health major who joined Harpur’s Ferry in Fall 2025. He is a Crew Chief, ETCO Deputy, CPR Instructor, member of the Vehicle Replacement Committee, and our incoming Equipment, Technology, and Communications Officer! His favorite thing about Harpur’s Ferry is “definitely the people and the family we’ve been able to build around this place, whether it’s on shift, around the squadroom, or just hanging out. I feel like I’ve had the privilege of being around so many great, knowledgeable, and caring folks who are great providers and amazing friends to be around!”

The membership chose Vidhu as our Member of the Month because of his hustle getting cleared, taking off duties, and hard work towards his road test. He also makes shift enjoyable and is always fun to be around!

In February, Harpur’s Ferry had the opportunity to attend the National Collegiate EMS Conference in Washington, DC! We attended thought-provoking CMEs, participated in Skills Classics at the BLS and ALS levels, networked, and explored all the nation’s capital has to offer. Additionally, former Chief and Executive Director Griffin Smolar presented a CME on Prehospital CPAP! 🩺

We are also proud to share that Harpur’s Ferry has been recognized as an EMS Ready Campus - Gold Tier Awardee! This distinction highlights high-level preparedness in emergency management and disaster preparedness. Thank you to our Captain Aarav Shah for his hard work putting together the nomination packet. This award emphasizes the hard work our providers and leadership put in daily to strive for excellence in Collegiate EMS. 🏆

Thank you for the opportunity to attend such an incredible conference, and we cannot wait until next year! 🚑

Introducing February’s Member of the Month, Brooke Hulbert!

Brooke is a Senior Integrative Neuroscience and Spanish Language and Literature major who joined Harpur’s Ferry in Spring 2023. She is our Vehicle Maintenance Officer and Driver/UTV/Trailer Preceptor! Her favorite thing about Harpur’s Ferry is “seeing the growth of the people around me. It means so much to see my friends as they discover who they are and step into more confident and independent versions of themselves.”

The membership chose Brooke as our Member of the Month because of her hard work as our VMO. She does a great job taking care of our vehicles both proactively and reactively. Additionally, she is a positive and supportive preceptor, and is always fun to be around in the squadroom!
