🌟 Registration is officially open for the Fall 2026 Board and Governance Lab!

AAN has teamed up with Vernetta Walker & Associates to bring Alabama nonprofits a program built for real impact: governance education paired with the practical tools boards need to lead through complexity, change, and growth.

Who should attend? Ideally, each nonprofit sends its Executive Director and Board Chair/President. If the Chair/President isn't available, the ED may bring another board member instead. If only one person can attend, either the ED or a board member alone is welcome.

Attendees will commit to all sessions in the series: 1 in-person session, 4 virtual sessions, and 1 virtual Q&A session.

📍 Session 1: The New Fundamentals of Nonprofit Governance: Building a Foundation for High-Impact Leadership
- with guest speaker Nancy Rieves, Founder of Fundraising Maximized.
Oct. 8 | 9:00am – 3:30pm | United Way of Central Alabama, Birmingham

📍 Session 2: What High-Performing Boards Do Differently
Oct. 22 | Virtual

📍 Session 3: Board Engagement and Accountability
Nov. 5 | Virtual

📍 Session 4: Meetings That Matter
Nov. 19 | Virtual

📍 Session 5: Sustaining Leadership Through Governance
Dec. 3 | Virtual

📍 Session 6: Open Discussion/Q&A w/ Vernetta Walker
Dec. 10 | Virtual
