🐝 What’s the buzz about bees? Come find out!

We’re hosting our All About Bees Workshop on Tuesday, August 18 from 6:00–7:00 PM at the Southeastern Indiana Recycling District’s main office in Madison! Whether you’re already interested in bees or just curious about what all the buzz is about, this workshop has plenty to see and learn. Our presenter, local beekeeper Rachel Ellenson, will give you an up-close look at the world of honeybees, including:
🐝 A live observation hive with a front-row view of the bees
🍯 What it’s really like to be a beekeeper
🌼 Why bees and other pollinators are so important
🌱 The importance of pollinator plants
🐝 Challenges facing bee populations and simple ways we can help
The workshop is FREE for District residents, but space is limited to 30 participants. 📅 Registration closes THIS FRIDAY, August 14!

Switzerland County 4-H Fair 2026 came to a close on Saturday. It was a great week for our kids and community! Along with non-perishable food items, the 4-H members received generous donations from community members, local businesses and the "Kiss the Pig" Fundraiser in the amount of $2670.00 to help purchase non-perishable food items to go towards Farm Credit Mid-America "Stock the Trailer, Fight the Hunger" contest! Tommy Carper was the lucky winner of our very 1st "Kiss the Pig" Fundraiser and during the hog show he puckered up and honored his commitment! Thanks for being a good sport Tommy! The official weight of donations collected was 2460lbs!! We'll be dropping the items off to the food pantry this week! The total pounds will be reported to Farm Credit Mid-America and we'll know after county fair season the outcome of the contest! Thank you to everyone who donated this year!!
