Highway 82 is now open. The rail road tracks will have a slight rise to them until the underneath can be packed by passing vehicles. The asphalt crew will be by in about a week to complete the work where the tracks and roadway meet. Please be mindful of the packed lip.

Highway 82 railroad repair has begun. This is slated for the entire day but past repairs lately across the area have averaged 4 to 5 hours. As soon as the highway is opened up we will let everyone know. Highway 64 to Mayfield is closed at this time with detours down Rodgers street

PSA : UPDATE SHARE UPDATE SHARE

We spoke with the rail road track repair crew this morning and due to being ahead of schedule Highway 82 rail road track repair has been moved up to Sunday starting at 8am. Officers will be on scene to help detour traffic down Mayfield to Rodger’s going North and from Highway 64 to Rodgers down Mayfield going South. No semis will be allowed on municipal streets. If they make it to the detour area they will be required to pull onto Mayfield Street slightly back straight up across 82 and go back South to I40 and take either Carlisle exit or Dwight Mission. The repair time is not exactly know but will be completed on Sunday.

Issac shared this with me today. Lake Vian Hilltop Run made the cover of June/July 2026 ULTRARUNNING magazine. Let me tell you a little about how big of a deal this is. The planning that goes into an event with hundreds of runners coming from all across the country is indescribable. The coordinating to keep the entire weekend event safe, and enjoyable begins long before the event starts. Issac prepares for the worst and expects the best. He has contingency plans for every scenario from a bee sting to a catastrophic injury all the way up on 100 mile hill. Issac’s dedication and preparedness makes this event the spectacular annual monster it is. These runners fill our restaurants, fill their tanks at our stations and come back every year because of the planning and preparing Issac does every year. As beautiful as we know VIAN is and deserves to be on this cover for that reason it is due to Issac, his family, and his dedicated team’s sacrifices and preparing we made this cover. Thank you Issac for being the shining light for Vian through your passion for running and love of the town.

PSA PLEASE SHARE:
June 1, 2026, Highway 82 from Mayfield to Main Street will be closed for railroad repairs for the better part of the day. The only concerns we foresee will be semi traffic. We will try to come up with a plan to help them not get stuck coming town.
