Please note that the City Council Meeting on Monday, August 10 will now begin at 6:30 PM instead of its usual start time.

This change has been made to allow community members, council members, and staff the opportunity to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new athletic facility.

Happy Danish Days, Viborg!

Dear Former Viborg Residents...

This is your annual reminder that your hometown misses you.

Danish Days has a way of bringing people home.

Whether you moved across the state or across the country, this weekend is about reconnecting—with old friends, family, classmates, neighbors, and the community that helped shape who you are. There's a pretty good chance you'll run into someone who still remembers you from kindergarten... and they'll probably ask what you've been up to.

If you've never been to Viborg before, welcome! We're glad you're here, and we hope you'll see why this little town means so much to the people who call it home.

Over the next few days, our community will be filled with parades, music, incredible food, hometown traditions, laughter, and memories in the making. Whether you're cheering along the parade route, catching up with friends, supporting our local businesses, or simply enjoying the small-town atmosphere, we hope you have an amazing weekend.

📢 Parks Department Reminder

We honestly didn't think this was something we'd ever have to post... but here we are.

🌳 Parks are for picnics.
⚽ Parks are for playing.
🐕 Parks are for walking the dog.

🚚 Parks are not for driving trucks.

Freshly planted park grass is not a parking lot, shortcut, turnaround, or off-road course. Unfortunately, a vehicle recently left tire ruts in one of our newly seeded areas, creating damage that now has to be repaired.

Please keep vehicles on the street and park along the curb where parking is permitted. Repairing damage like this takes time, effort, and taxpayer dollars that we'd much rather spend improving our parks than fixing avoidable damage.

We promise the grass isn't hiding a secret road. 🌱

With Danish Days kicking off this weekend, we're excited to welcome everyone to Viborg for a fun, safe, and memorable celebration. Whether you're here for the parade, food, music, or visiting with friends and family, please help us keep our parks and public spaces looking their best by respecting them during the festivities.

🚨 Community Notice – Door-to-Door Peddlers 🚨

The City of Viborg has received reports of a door-to-door peddler in town who has not obtained the required peddler's permit from Viborg City Hall.

If you are approached by anyone selling goods or services door-to-door, you have every right to ask to see their City of Viborg peddler's permit. All peddlers are required to obtain a permit from City Hall before conducting business within the city.

If a peddler does not have a permit, you may direct them to Viborg City Hall to obtain one. You are also never obligated to speak with a peddler or open your door. If you are not interested, you may politely ask them to leave your property.

If you have questions or would like to report an unpermitted peddler, please contact Viborg City Hall at 605-326-5103.

If at any time you feel uncomfortable, threatened, or believe the situation requires law enforcement, do not hesitate to contact Police Chief Foley at 605-760-9832. If it is an emergency or you feel you are in immediate danger, call 911 immediately.

🚨🐾 Small Town APB: One Blue Heeler on the Loose! 🐾🚨

Well... someone's got places to be and people to ignore. 🤠

If you see a Blue Heeler sporting a brown Carhartt collar making the rounds around town, we'd sure appreciate a heads-up! Before they decide to inspect every yard, visit every neighbor, and supervise everyone's business. 😂

📞 Please contact Braden Meyers or call City Hall if you spot our four-legged escape artist.

With a little small-town teamwork, we'll have this wanderer home in no time! 🐾

🚧 Road Closure Notice – Lincoln Ave. 🚧

Beginning soon, Lincoln Ave. will be closed from Maple St. to Kemper St. while construction work is completed.

Residents and visitors can still access properties in the area by using the access roads located on the north end of both Maple St. and Kemper St.

The project is expected to take approximately 30–45 days, weather permitting.

We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed. Please use caution when traveling near the work zone and follow all posted signs.
