AmeriCorps NCCC Southern Region (Official)

AmeriCorps NCCC Southern Region (Official) AmeriCorps brings people together to serve communities. Drawn from the successful models of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s and the U.S.

AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a full-time, team-based residential program for young adults age 18–26. Members are assigned to one of four campuses, located in Aurora, Colorado; Sacramento, California; Vicksburg, Mississippi; and Vinton, Iowa. In partnership with non-profits—secular and faith based, local municipalities, state governments, federal government, national or st

ate parks, Indian Tribes and schools members complete service projects throughout the region they are assigned. military, AmeriCorps NCCC is built on the belief that civic responsibility is an inherent duty of all citizens and that national service programs work effectively with local communities to address pressing needs.

Graduation for AmeriCorps NCCC Classes 30B and 30C is less than SIX weeks away! We're featuring highlights from their final round of service. 👇 Today is about teams Gulf 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1! 👇

5️⃣ Gulf 5 served with the American Red Cross New Jersey Region to identify potential shelter sites in case of emergency, supplied cots to the National Guard, participated in the "Sound the Alarm" campaign, and became forklift-certified to support warehouse logistics. 🦺
✅ Gulf 5 completed 8 shelter surveys in Ocean and Monmouth Counties, allowing ARC NJ to create relationships with local and state community partners.
✅ The team installed 80 smoke alarms and educated 345 residents in Asbury Park on home fire safety. 🚨
➡️ “I loved being able to get my hands dirty and be active by helping ARC NJ’s logistics team. Loading up supplies knowing that they were going to survivors who really needed them felt super rewarding,” said Corps Member Karisa. ⛑

4️⃣ Gulf 4 was deployed to Austin, TX to complete case reviews to help survivors of Hurricane Beryl and severe storms understand how to get the assistance they needed. 🌪⚡️⛈
✅ The team set new records of 681 and 2043 cases, with nearly $24,000 in aid awarded.
✅ In Columbia, SC and the midlands region, Gulf 4 served a day with The Arc of South Carolina to make 2,000+ PB&J sandwiches for food shelters, and picked up trash with Keep the Midlands Beautiful .

3️⃣ Gulf 3 responded to the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles, CA, conducting Disaster Survivor Assistance. 🔥
✅ The team canvassed over 500 houses and registered over 30 households for FEMA assistance. 🏠
➡️ Corps Member Sophia shared, "This was a huge help to the community as many of them lost everything and needed all the help they could get".
✅ The team also served in Denver, CO with the Region 8 office to move and inventory equipment and supplies, ensuring uninterrupted operation.

2️⃣ Gulf 2 served in Barnet and Williston, VT to conduct public assistance for residents after flood damage to roads, bridges, buildings, and more. 🌊🚧
➡️ Corps Member Cayden said, “The work FEMA does is extremely important to smaller communities like the ones here in Vermont. Oftentimes, it can feel like these disasters affect them the most [...] It’s an amazing opportunity to see how the work FEMA does directly impacts individuals and communities and I love being a part of it.”

1️⃣ Gulf 1 has gotten a lot of experience with WebEOC, an online Emergency Operations Center. WebEOC helps responders maintain situational awareness and collaborate to make better decisions in disaster management. The team's service has allowed for easier access of files, and clearer interpretation of data. 📊
