Today on , we honor the brave men and women who gave everything so that we could be free.

From the battlefields of our very own Vicksburg to the beaches of Normandy, from the sands of Iwo Jima to the hills of Korea, from the jungles of Vietnam to the skies and waters of the Pacific, they answered the call. They kissed their families goodbye and never came home. Their willingness to lay down their lives is the very reason we continue to live in the greatest country on earth.

So as you enjoy this holiday, I ask that you please take a few moments to stop and pray, thanking God for the courage of those who died so that we could live free.

We owe them everything. May we live worthy of their sacrifice, and may we never, ever forget their bravery.

Proud to recognize The Salvation Army with a proclamation this week. Feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, answering the call in disasters, walking alongside those in recovery. Grateful for everything they do so well for those in need.

Thank you to Don Hill and The Vicksburg Post for highlighting the work we’re doing to build a safer, stronger, and smarter Vicksburg.

Through proactive planning steps, we’re updating our roadmap and goals for the future all while getting back to the basics of what city government was created to do for taxpayers: infrastructurally sound planning that supports the needs of our residents, of our existing businesses, of our new businesses, and of our visitors.

Vicksburg, we’re truly on the move. Thank you for your trust, your patience, and your partnership. The best is still ahead, and we’re going to get there together.

Serving our community in this way is a real honor, and I don’t take it lightly.

Thank you, Vicksburg.

On this National Day of Prayer, I encourage everyone in our community to pray for our city, state and nation and show gratitude for the blessings that we’ve been given. This day reminds us that we are more alike than we are different. We are all created in the image of God. We humbly send our petitions up and ask for guidance and grace for everyone who will be gathered in prayer.
