Victor, Colorado Volunteer Fire Department

Victor, Colorado Volunteer Fire Department Proudly serving the City of Victor and surrounding area with volunteer fire protection, emergency response, and community support since 1894.

The Victor Volunteer Fire Department has served with pride since 1894. The Fire Chief is appointed by City Council and is responsible for the training of volunteer firefighters and maintenance of all City fire equipment and facilities. The City has a team of dedicated volunteers of between 12 and 20 members. These volunteers take time from their personal lives to insure the protection of the lives

and property of Victor citizens. This department is funded with your tax dollars and, in addition, this dedicated group of men and women conduct numerous fundraisers throughout the year to acquire equipment to enhance the safety of their members. Victor Fire has responded to three calls in the last 24 hrs. 2 medical and a grass fire ignited by a lightning strike that we were unable to locate and was likely put out by the rain that accompanied the lightning.

We would like to thank our partners at Southwest Teller County EMS for their assistance with the medical calls and Teller County Sheriff's Office, Cripple Creek Fire, and Divide Colorado Fire Protection District for their assistance on the lightning strike.

Neighbors helping neighbors is the name of the game in Teller County and we are stronger together.

As always the Victor Fire Department is proud to serve our community and surrounding county and we will answer the call day or night.

Remember, in case of emergency, dial 911

Thanks to Teller County Sheriff's Office for the surplus lights. We just got the first set of them installed on our new Polaris from Pikes Peak Polaris which we will be using for calls. More lights and decals to come but we got these on just in time for the Veterans rally in Cripple Creek.

The Victor Fire Department would like to extend a huge thanks to Travis and JoAnne Allen of Jet Service here in Victor for allowing us to use their yard and a couple of cars for extrication training with the new tools we received via the grant from SSR.

Lt. Berryman with First Due Rescue came out and provided guidance and let us demo the tools. We got to work with the tools we are getting as well as test other types and sizes of tools to see what might make the jobs easier in the field.

We cannot thank Jet Service and First Due enough for the training and SSR for their generous donation that made this equipment purchase possible.

🚒🔥 Thank You, El Pomar Foundation! 🔥🚒

The Victor Volunteer Fire Department is incredibly grateful to the El Pomar Foundation for awarding VVFD a $5,000 grant to help purchase critical PPE, wildland firefighting equipment, and replace other essential equipment.

In such a dry year, as wildfires have impacted communities across Colorado, this support could not come at a more important time. This funding will help ensure our volunteer firefighters have the protective gear, tools, and equipment they need to respond safely and effectively if a wildfire or structure fire threatens our community.

For a small volunteer department, every dollar makes a difference, and partnerships like this directly strengthen our ability to protect Victor and the surrounding area.

Thank you, El Pomar Foundation, for investing in our volunteers and the safety of our community!

Speaking of donations, Victor Fire would like to announce that we have been awarded a full grant of $23,750 by Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine to allow us to purchase two next generation TNT Rescue Systems, Inc. battery powered combo rescue tools for use by our department.

These tools will replace aging tools that rely on gasoline and finicky carburetors. They will allow for simultaneous use in a multi vehicle accident, helping us to provide quicker extraction times which leads to better outcomes.

Thanks again to Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine for their continued support of our department and helping us to continue to provide excellent service to our citizens.

As we approach the end of the year, we would like to encourage anyone, but especially residents or businesses of South Eastern Teller county, who may be looking for tax deductible donations to consider a donation to the Victor Volunteer Fire Department.

We not only cover the cities of Victor and Goldfield but also CR 8 (Gold Camp road) to the El Paso county line, CR 61 (Phantom Canyon road) to the Fremont line, CR 861 (Skaguay road) to the reservoir and support search and rescue to the Power Plant, out to Gillette Flats and all roads between.

We appreciate all the support during our pancake breakfast but any additional funds raised through direct donation would be used to help add to and replace trucks and equipment that is getting 20 years old and older. Additionally there is equipment like a Side by Side (Rzr) that could help reduce wear on trucks and equipment when we have to access rocky or densely forested areas in our service area.

We appreciate your consideration of our volunteer department when considering year end donations.

If you are interested in getting a list of equipment we are in need of please reach out to [email protected] and [email protected].

For monetary donations, please stop by city hall or mail to PO Box 86, Victor, CO 80860 and make sure and note in the memo the funds are for the Victor Fire Department. We will mail you back a letter acknowledging your donation for tax purposes.

Note: The City of Victor, Colorado is a qualified governmental unit eligible to receive tax-deductible gifts for public purposes under Internal Revenue Code Section 170(c)(1).

🐻 Please take a moment to read this important message from the City of Victor.

We've already seen two bears removed from our community this year, and unfortunately, the bear pictured appears to be heading down the same path. This is something we can help prevent.

Simple actions like securing your trash, bringing in bird feeders, storing pet food indoors, and cleaning outdoor grills can make a tremendous difference. When bears learn to associate people with food, it often ends poorly for the bear.

We all play a role in keeping wildlife wild and our community safe. Please do your part to help prevent bears from becoming habituated to human food sources.

Thank you to our volunteers, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and the Teller County Sheriff's Office for everything they're doing to help manage these situations safely.

Let's work together to make sure Victor is known for its history and hospitality—not as a free buffet for bears. 🐻

Victor Fire just got back from a Search and Rescue call at Skaguay. While we will always respond, we urge those contemplating this hike to understand the roughness of the terrain and the grueling nature of the trek. Getting there is literally only half the battle and the way back is uphill.

Make sure you are prepared for an overnight stay just in case and have a way to communicate with your loved ones back home. We enjoy the mountains as much as anyone and want all of our visitors to make it home safely.

Thanks to our partners at Southwest Teller County EMS, Teller County Search and Rescue, and Teller County Dispatch for their assistance tonight
