Combination Fire & EMS agency providing fire protection & emergency medical services to citizens of Lunenburg County. We operate an additional EMS substation in Kenbridge, VA. Department also hosts Regional Communications Cache, serving an area of over 20 counties, and potentially NC. We host

a plethora of training throughout the year, and assist our members with obtaining. We’re always looking for those looking to help in their community, or kick start a new career. We have volunteer positions available in suppression, EMS, or a combination of both!

As temperatures rise and families head to lakes, pools, and rivers, Victoria Fire & Rescue would like to remind everyone to make water safety a priority.

βœ”οΈ Wear a properly fitted life jacket
βœ”οΈ Never swim alone
βœ”οΈ Designate a β€œWater Watcher” to supervise children
βœ”οΈ Swim in designated areas
βœ”οΈ Check weather and water conditions before entering the water

Drowning can happen quickly and quietly. A few simple precautions can save a life.

β˜€οΈπŸš‘ Heat Safety Reminder from Your EMS Team

As temperatures continue to rise, heat-related illnesses can become serious medical emergencies. Our EMS providers are already seeing the effects of extreme heat, and we encourage everyone to take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones.

🌑️ Know the Warning Signs of Heat-Related Illness:

Excessive sweating or hot, dry skin
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Muscle cramps
Headache
Nausea or vomiting
Weakness or fatigue
Confusion or altered mental status

πŸ’§Tips to Stay Cool and Safe:

βœ… Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
βœ… Avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol, which can contribute to dehydration.
βœ… Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
βœ… Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (10 AM – 4 PM).
βœ… Take frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas.
βœ… Never leave children, pets, or vulnerable adults in a parked vehicle.
βœ… Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and those with chronic medical conditions.

🚨 Call 911 immediately if someone experiences:

Loss of consciousness
Seizures
Difficulty breathing
Confusion or unresponsiveness
A body temperature of 103Β°F or higher

Stay hydrated, stay cool, and stay safe. Together, we can prevent heat-related emergencies and keep our community healthy this summer.
