Public Notice — Your Rights as a Texas Property Taxpayer
The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts publishes the Taxpayer Assistance Pamphlet each year to help property owners understand their rights during the appraisal and protest process.
Under Texas law, every property owner is entitled to:
✅ An explanation of the remedies available when you disagree with your appraised value
✅ Notice of the protest process, deadlines, and hearing procedures
✅ Access to data and evidence the appraisal district will present at your hearing
✅ The right to appear in person, by phone, by video, or by written affidavit
The pamphlet explains: how to file a protest (deadline: May 15, 2026), what can be protested, how the ARB works, your appeal options, and the role of the Taxpayer Liaison Officer.
A copy of this pamphlet is included with your 2026 Notice of Appraised Value. You can also view the full pamphlet on the Comptroller’s website: comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/property-tax/
Our office also has copies available at no charge.
