At Tuesday's City Council meeting, Mayor Duane Crocker proclaimed the City's participation in the Mayor's Monarch Pledge, an initiative of the National Wildlife Federation that invites communities to commit to the care and protection of monarch butterflies and other pollinators. 🦋🦋🦋
The mayor was joined by Victoria Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Kate Garcia, who said, "We’re excited to partner with Community Appearance and Keep Victoria Beautiful to create and preserve pollinator-friendly spaces and increase awareness throughout our community." 🌻🌹🌷

The City and its partners are celebrating the start of construction on the Gary Moses Community Center with a groundbreaking ceremony. The ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Duane Crocker; City Manager Jesús A. Garza; and Kristin Moses, Gary Moses’ niece, as well as representatives of the various contractors that will bring the project to life. All nonemergency City of Victoria offices will close Monday for Labor Day.
♻️ Victoria Environmental Services garbage and recycling pickup will continue as normally scheduled.
📚 The Victoria Public Library will be closed.

The sale starts Sunday, Sept. 13, with the members-only access event, then opens to the general public for the rest of the week. Don't forget to come by on the last day of the sale on Saturday, Sept. 19, to stuff your Friends of the Library book bag for just $1!
All proceeds from the book sale support Victoria Public Library programs and services, including the summer reading program, gingerbread house workshop and 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.

The City of Victoria Municipal Court will be unavailable for in-person services on Thursday, Sept. 10, until 3pm as court staff participate in a regional training opportunity hosted by Tyler Technologies, Inc.
