Congratulations to in the City of Hesperia for being a 2026 Air Aware award recipient! 🎉🌎

First presented in 2022, the MDAQMD presents the Air Aware Award to select permitted facilities within its jurisdiction who meet several criteria including successful annual permit inspections (at least three years consecutively), no history of compliance notices within that time period, exceptional records keeping, rules and regulation knowledge of facility staff during inspections, ease of inspection and more.

**Cautionary Advisory**

Air quality for Thursday, May 21, 2026, indicates the Southern part of the district, including the Victorville and Phelan areas, will continue to see the Air Quality Index reach into the orange category for ground-level ozone. This means members of sensitive groups, such as those with respiratory illnesses, seniors, active adults, and children may be affected in the late afternoon and early evening hours. Other areas of MDAQMD jurisdiction are forecasted to have moderate air quality.

You can always check the AQI before you head outside by visiting https://www.airnow.gov/

It’s Air Quality Awareness Week! ✨🌎

This week, along with the , we’re highlighting several factors that contribute to air quality and their effects on the local environment. Today, we are focused on air, animals, and plants.

The EPA's "EnviroAtlas" provides geospatial data, easy-to-use tools, and other resources related to ecosystem services, including how they contribute to clean air. Several federal agencies maintain public information pages for visibility and haze: U.S. EPA Visibility and Regional Haze, NPS Air Pollution & Visibility, including a list of Class I Federal Areas protected by the Regional Haze Program and Class I sites monitored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service ( )
