Permanently closed.

The idea of the Victor Valley Community warming shelter came together several years ago, when a homeless man died as a result of the freezing temperatures. This man died alone and cold in a city, county, state, country, and planet where there is and was plenty of money to help him. The story went to local media and the public outcry led to local government stepping in to help with the opening of s

uch a place. Eventually, most of the responsibility fell onto the Victor Valley Rescue Mission, along with their volunteers and generous donors. The amount of time required and the costs were a strain for only one organization. This year, High Desert Homeless Services is the lead agency working alongside the Victor Valley Rescue Mission and other local non-profit organizations. Together we will be raising funds and organizing volunteers for the three shifts required each day that the warming shelter is open. The shelter will be open 24 hours a day to keep all guests safe from the Covid-19 and help them get a hand up during these times. Community help is essential and getting this and keeping this going throughout the cold months.
