Our friends at the Kiwanis Club of Victorville are hosting the Dream Big 5K on Saturday, August 22, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Victor Valley College!

Participants can run or walk the full 5K while supporting the Kiwanis Club’s work with students throughout Victorville, including many of our VESD students.

Registration is $40 per person. The course begins and ends at the Victor Valley College Stadium, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female overall finishers.

Meet VESD’s Child Welfare and Attendance Liaison Team!

At VESD, we want every student to have the support they need to attend school, feel connected, and thrive. Our CWAL team includes one supervisor and eight dedicated liaisons who work closely with our schools, families, and community partners.

Throughout the year, our CWAL team:

Partners with families to understand and address challenges that may affect a student’s attendance.
Makes friendly home and community visits, meeting families where they are.
Connects families with social-emotional support, school supplies, essential items, and other helpful resources.

Our CWAL team is here to listen, help, and partner with families so every VESD student has the opportunity to succeed.

Del Rey Elementary families, Back to School Night is coming up! We’re excited to welcome you to campus to meet your child’s teacher and learn more about the school year.

Please attend on the night scheduled for your child’s grade:

**1st–3rd Grade**
Tuesday, August 18
**5:00–6:15 PM**

**4th–6th Grade**
Thursday, August 20
**5:00–6:15 PM**

Both evenings will begin at **5:00 PM in the MPR** with schoolwide information from the principal. Afterward, families will be dismissed to visit their child’s classroom.

We’re excited to welcome four new School Resource Deputies who will be serving VESD schools this year!

Our SROs are an important part of our school communities. Beyond helping keep our campuses safe, they build relationships with students and staff, serve as familiar and trusted faces on campus, and work alongside our schools to create positive, supportive environments for everyone.

Thank you to the Victorville Police Department for introducing our newest deputies and for your continued partnership with VESD.

Green Tree East Leadership Academy families with students in 2nd–6th grade are invited to Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 19!

Join us to meet your child's teacher, learn about classroom expectations, and get ready for a successful school year.

Event Schedule
Wednesday, August 19

4:30 PM – School Information & Volunteer Training in the MPR
4:45–5:45 PM – Classroom Visits
Volunteer Training will be available in the MPR on a rotating basis from 4:30–6:00 PM.

If you plan to volunteer this school year, please complete the annual volunteer training. Volunteer training and school board approval are required before volunteering in classrooms or attending field trips.

The first day of school is officially in the books!

It was so great seeing our VESD campuses full of smiling faces, excited students, and all that first-day energy. We’re thrilled to have our students back and can’t wait to see what this school year brings!

Tomorrow is the big day! We’re excited to welcome our VESD students back for the first day of school!

A little preparation can help make the morning a great one. Get a good night’s rest, plan to arrive early, and give yourself some extra time as families settle back into their school routines.

Please help us keep our campuses safe by slowing down, watching for students and pedestrians, following your school’s drop-off and pick-up procedures, and being patient with one another during those busy first few days.

And don’t forget — breakfast and lunch are free for all VESD students! A good meal can make a big difference in helping students feel their best, stay focused, and be ready for a full day of learning.

We can’t wait to see our students back on campus tomorrow. Here’s to a safe, positive, and exciting start to the new school year!

Incoming Kindergarten students and their families can meet their teacher, visit their classroom, and receive important information about Kindergarten. The event will begin in the MPR.

TK Meet & Greet
TK students and families are invited to meet their teacher and get acquainted before the first day of school.

Tuesday, August 11 | 8:45–10:45 AM
TK Orientation
TK families should plan to stay with their students on the first day of school to attend orientation.
