🚒 Commercial Vehicle Fire 🚨

At approximately 0643 hours on Wednesday, April 15th, your Orange County ESD #1 firefighters were dispatched to reported 18-Wheeler fire on IH-10, Westbound near the 859 Exit.

Engine 1 and Tanker 1 initially responded with the on duty shift, which included 4 Firefighters. Engine 1 and Tanker 1 arrived on scene to find a commercial, tractor drawn trailer and its contents, well involved with fire. The driver of the commercial vehicle was able to pull the truck off of the highway, onto the feeder road. Initial arriving crews were able to quickly knock the fire down and began overhaul.

Overhaul operations are still underway, the West Bound feeder road is shut down at the MM 859 turnaround.

Please observe the barriers that have been placed and avoid the area as Firefighters are assisting Hazardous Materials contractors in removing the debris and trailer.

Thank you to Orange County Sheriff's Office Texas and our private industry counter parts for their assistance.

We are asking our citizens to not do any outdoor burning for the next few days. With the recent cold front, our winds have increased and humidity levels have dropped very low. Along with the dry vegetation one the ground surface, humidity levels and winds, we are at a very high risk for fires getting out of control very quickly. All Orange County fire departments were extremely busy yesterday with fires that became out of control, leading to larger fires than the citizen anticipated. PLEASE DO NOT BURN OUTDOORS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS!!!!

02/17/2026

The burn ban for the unincorporated areas of Orange County, effective February 11 at 9:00 a.m., has been lifted as of today, February 17, at 9:00 a.m. Please be cautious when burning and follow all safety guidelines.
