Stop, means stop.

We have received multiple complaints from both the community and bus drivers about vehicle operators not stopping for school buses, while children are loading and unloading.

Officers have been asked to increase patrols in the areas of concern to address these issues immediately.

Please pay attention, minimize your distractions and stop when the stop sign is extended.

Please help us keep our youth safe.

It is the law.

On September 30, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Vidor Police officers attempted to stop an E-bicyclist for observed traffic violations.

The rider failed to stop for the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and siren and fled before coming to a stop in the 800 block of North Tannahill Street.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Tyler Brown, was taken into custody.

Officers discovered Brown had an outstanding warrant from Hardin County.

During the subsequent investigation, officers determined Brown had recently stolen the bicycle from Wal-Mart, just prior to the attempted traffic stop.

The bicycle was recovered and returned to Walmart.

Brown was transported to the Orange County Jail where he was released to jail staff without incident.

Yesterday was an event-filled day for the Vidor Police Department, and we are grateful for every opportunity we had to connect with and serve alongside members of our community.

The day began with Officer Woodard joining the students at Oak Forest Elementary to help hoist the colors for the morning. It was a great way to start the day and spend time with some of our youngest community members.

We then joined our fellow first responders and the team at Orange County Building Materials for a wonderful first responder appreciation lunch. Officer Smith enjoyed the opportunity to share a meal, fellowship, and conversation with the employees and other first responders who work so hard to serve our community.

We ended the evening alongside our partners in Fire, EMS, and Dispatch for a moment of silence and a brief playing of the bagpipes in remembrance and honor.

The Vidor Police Department would like to sincerely thank our community, Oak Forest Elementary, Orange County Building Materials, and all of our first responder partners for allowing us to be part of these meaningful events.

We are proud to serve Vidor and truly appreciate the continued support and partnership of our community.
