📚🍎 Back to School Means Back to Safety! 🚌🚸

As students head back to the classroom, let’s all do our part to keep them safe.

🚍 Never pass a stopped school bus. The flashing lights and stop arm are there to protect children getting on and off the bus.

👀 Stay alert. Watch carefully for children walking, riding bicycles, or crossing the street, especially during the morning and afternoon hours.

⏰ Leave a few minutes earlier. Giving yourself extra time helps reduce the urge to speed through neighborhoods, school zones, and bus stops where children may be waiting.

🚗 Slow down and stay focused. A few extra seconds can make all the difference in protecting a child’s life.

☀️ HEAT ADVISORY FOR SOUTH GEORGIA ☀️

Dangerous heat and humidity are expected across our area this week, including Dooly County. Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly, especially for young children, older adults, those with chronic medical conditions, and anyone working or spending time outdoors.

Help protect yourself and those around you:
💧 Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🌳 Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day if at all possible.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
❤️ Check on family, friends, neighbors, and outdoor workers.

Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone has a high body temperature, confusion, loses consciousness, or stops sweating, call 911 immediately.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe during this stretch of extreme heat.

The City of Vienna will be hosting its Annual Back to School Bash on July 25,2026 from 10am-12pm. We would like to invite all vendors and/or organizations to come out and help make this event a success. We ask that any vendors and organizations that are interested in participating, please contact City Hall for more details. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Dooly County Health Department will have extended hours on July 29th. We will extend our closing time from 5 pm until 6 pm.
REMINDER: You don’t have to wait until this day. We are open Monday through Friday from 8 am until 5 pm. Closed from 12-1 for lunch. We offer walk in services if time allows for all programs. Don’t wait for the last minute, please come and get everything updated for school. Those first few weeks of school are hectic enough.
Call our office at 229-268-4725 and secure an appointment or come by during office hours.
