Ever heard the saying, "a watched pot never boils?" The same can be said for deicers! Applying more salt won’t make snow and ice melt faster. Be patient, and give it time after your first application. The colder it is, the longer it will take for salt to melt the snow and ice left after shoveling.

Remove snow early and often before it turns to ice. The more snow you remove, the less deicer you'll have to use and the more effective it will be. Did you know that a coffee mug of salt will treat a 20-foot driveway? Scatter it so there’s space between the grains—a little goes a long way!

When winter weather hits, deicers can help us walk and drive safely in snow and ice. Unfortunately, that salt can seep into the soil and wash into streams, harming plants and putting human health and aquatic life at risk. It can also corrode vehicles and weaken infrastructure. When applying salt, think less is more.

I've got bad news and I've got great news. The bad news is that the Explore Vienna VA Noon Year's Eve pop-up has been canceled (). The great news is that means you get one more chance to get one of these bestselling ornaments before they're gone forever! "Got Vaccinated" ornaments are 30% off on final sale through the weekend. I've got 17 left in stock and when they're gone, they're gone! Two were already snatched up yesterday, so don't wait to click that link! 🏃🏼‍♀️ And yes, I'm fully aware of the irony of having a sale on Got Vaccinated ornaments because there's too much virus in the area 🤦🏻‍♀️ Get those boosters, y'all.

Order your ornaments at writelizwrite.etsy.com

Every ornament is hand drawn (with a little syringe and virus snowflake 😂), written, and frosted. As always, orders over $100 ship free. If you're a Vienna local, you can use the code LOCALPICKUP to save on delivery charges and pick up from me in Dunn Loring Woods. Thank you for shopping small and handmade!

So your builder buddy is once again borking Park Street. I’m old enough to remember when Town elected officials told me this would happen only twice. Well, we’re on about the 17th time.

but hey, I know it’s hard to keep track of, what with locust perpetually being one lane because apparently vienna is now 16 square miles as opposed to the 4 sq miles it’s been since 1890, and thus needs a humongous police station, the monstrosity at 123 and pleasant, the huge cranes at wade hampton, and the impending disaster at 123 and nutley.

oh, my property tax payment will be arriving in the mail soon, btw. because i fulfill my obligations. even if the other side of the contract doesn’t.
GHS families thoroughly enjoyed last night’s Town of Vienna, VA Halloween Parade! The Green Hedges float, celebrating the Roaring Twenties, was magical, colorful, and captured the spirit of the time period perfectly.

GHS Jazz sounded wonderful and were cheered on by our students and parents! It was great to participate in this time-honored tradition once again.
keep it up guys. that sweet sweet tax base is worth it … to you. for all your shiny things you wanna buy. I mean, it’s literally drowning the rest of us. but as long as the developers are happy, who cares!!
The first video is from my backyard at 7:30 this morning. The second video, in the comments, is from my front yard at the same time this morning. This is every morning, every day, all day.

Enough is enough, and you need to figure something out. I can't sleep. I can't spend time outside in my own yard, which I paid a pretty penny ... not to spend time in, apparently. My dog is terrified to go outside. I can't drive anywhere in this town most of the time, because other developers and contractors routinely are closing down Park Street, Center Street, Locust Street, blocking up side streets with their huge trucks and equipment, and snarling traffic across town at all hours.

Your stewardship has, quite frankly and obviously, made this town an pretty awful place to live. I've been here since 1985, and you've driven the quality of life here into the ground. For one, enough of your pandering and rolling over for developers. But again, do your jobs and figure something out -- "but we can't tell people not to build" ain't it, chiefs. And "i feel your pain, that must be so annoying" ain't it, either. You don't feel my pain. But I suppose I'm happy to spend every morning outside the front of your houses revving my engine and banging on pipes and whooping and hollering to give you a taste, if you'd like.

You weren't elected to genuflect to developers and make this town a living hell for residents. DO SOMETHING. Is this a town, or just a pliant money tree for developers? That's a rhetorical question -- the answer is quite clear all over Vienna.
