Vienna Police Department to Participate in the DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative

Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In conjunction with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and state and local law enforcement agencies, the Vienna Police Department will again participate in a one-day initiative to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from area homes.

On October 24, 2020, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the Vienna Police Department will have a collection site for old, expired, unused, or unwanted medications. Prescription medications, controlled or non-controlled substances, and over the counter drugs may be turned in anonymously at the collection point inside the Vienna Police Department located at 215 Center Street, South, Vienna, Virginia 22180.

Participants may dispose of medication in its original container or by removing it and disposing of it directly into the collection box. If an original container is used, the individual should consider removing any identifying information from the prescription label. Liquid products should remain sealed in their original container to prevent leakage.

DEA will collect vape pens or other e-cigarette devices from individual consumers only after the batteries are removed from the devices. It is important to stress that the DEA is not responsible for removing the batteries from the devices.

Intravenous solutions, injectables, and syringes will not be accepted due to associated hazards.

Commercial businesses, pharmacies, or other medical facilities may not use this as a means to discard expired medications or medical waste.

Town of Vienna, VA - Government

On August 25, a social media post claimed: “Vienna Police Wrongfully Harass Young Black Man.” Though no formal complaint related to this incident has ever been submitted to the Vienna Police Department nor any other investigative authority, a Town of Vienna internal investigation was immediately launched. At the conclusion of this thorough investigation, conducted by the Vienna Police Department’s criminal investigation unit, the claims posted on social media have been determined to be unfounded and, in large measure, inaccurate and untrue.

On a social media post dated August 30, a woman complained that she was “impromptly [sic] interrogated” by “Vienna’s finest” at Yeonas Park while eating lunch with her two adult children in her vehicle. After an investigation, the Vienna Police Department finds the officer in this incident to be in compliance with normal police procedures, and no improper police conduct occurred. In-car video shows that the Vienna officer’s conduct not only was appropriate but his interactions courteous and kind.

The Vienna Police Department takes all allegations of misconduct very seriously, and officers are expected to interact with all individuals, regardless of skin color, appropriately, respectfully, and, whenever possible, courteously. If you have a complaint about a Vienna police officer’s conduct, please report it to the Vienna Police Department by calling 703-255-6366 or sending an email to [email protected]. If you prefer, you may file a civil rights claim with the Department of Justice at https://civilrights.justice.gov/.

A big THANK YOU to the resident that invited the Vienna Police Department and the Vienna Fire Department to be at their 6 year old daughter’s birthday 🎂. Due to current social distancing restrictions her mother decided to organize a puppy parade in lieu of a typical birthday party. She invited all of her daughter’s friends to walk by her house with a dog to wish her a happy birthday while social distancing. Our very own Paw patrol 🐶 was able to make a surprise appearance at this event to wish the little girl a happy birthday! 🎈🎂🎊🎉🎁

Thank you for helping us learn about our community helpers with this great activity book. We love our Vienna Police officers and appreciate everything you do to keep us safe!
Does anyone else hear the warning siren going off 5-6 times? I’ve never heard it before. Is this a test or what?
Hope you come see us at Octoberfest

We will be honoring a Town of Vienna police officer at our next meeting on June 20th as part of Optimist International's Respect for Law program.
Hello, how do we complain on trucks parking on a yellow curb and idling for an extended period of time? This has become a daily occurrence where I am.
Please continue to search for telepaths in parked stolen autos; take Niacin 4x/day.
Thanks for all you do to keep us safe. I especially appreciate enforcement of the four way stop closest to my house, Cottage and Oak. May I suggest a couple of other spots for similar enforcement? Here is a video at Moore and Park. Especially at rush hour, folks tend to roll through the intersection. Also, Moore and Center: folks turning left from Moore onto Center often cut the turn way too close. [sorry the date stamp is wrong on my video — it was actually this morning at about 7:53.]
Do you all have a pic of the old camaro that was seized that car was cool
