We’re gearing up for our annual Beacon of Hope Fundraiser on October 15, and we need YOU to help us build a community of support!

Look at what's possible when a group comes together with purpose!

We want to give a massive thank you to RSM US LLP for their incredible support of Second Story. RSM has quickly become a dedicated corporate partner.

As part of RSM’s nationwide Power of Love annual stewardship campaign running from July through September, this hard-working group tackled an impressive list of projects in just one day at our emergency home for youth in crisis and our program for young mothers. Local young people come to these programs seeking a safe place to stay and a break from significant crises and challenges. These unexpected new touches will make their stays a little nicer during difficult times in their lives.

Together the RSM employees and interns from their McLean, VA office accomplished the following:

✨ Planted shrubs & built a meditation circle

✨ Weeded, mulched & screened our vegetable beds

✨ Freshly painted our ramp & shed trim to match our purple door

✨ Cleaned 2 townhouses for our Second Story for Young Mothers program

We are so grateful for RSM’s growing partnership and the tangible difference they made for the youth and families we serve. Thank you for showing up for your neighbors in such a powerful way!

As the new school year begins, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to every individual, partner, and group who contributed to our annual Backpack Drive.

Starting school with the right tools makes a critical difference in a student's confidence and educational success. Thanks to your support, local youth are entering the classroom fully prepared to learn and thrive.

Did you know that 1 in 6 abused women is first abused during pregnancy?

Pregnancy and early motherhood should be a time of hope and community support. That is why Second Story for Young Mothers (SSYM) is so vital.

SSYM provides a safe haven for pregnant or parenting young women ages 16 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness or living in unsafe environments. We walk alongside these young mothers as they build safety, stability, and long-term independence for themselves and their children.

At Second Story, we know that when a young person walks into the classroom on day one with a backpack full of brand-new supplies, they walk in with confidence.

Thanks to the incredible team at The Brigade of Mercy, Tysons Rotary Club, and dedicated local volunteers, 800 backpacks were packed to the brim with essential school supplies.

Thank you to every donor, volunteer, and supporter who helped set our students up for success this year!
