America Gives continues to have a significant impact on communities across the country!

Earlier this week, we shared how Spectrum Designs Foundation has produced co-branded America250 and SourceAmerica hats as part of Good Neighbor Day, which promotes random acts of kindness and America Gives — a year-long initiative dedicated to service. SourceAmerica is proud to support the contributions of people with disabilities, including veterans, employed in our nationwide network.

The Technology Automation Enhancement Program grants funds to nonprofits in SourceAmerica’s nationwide network. The funds provide an opportunity to modernize facilities through the purchasing of new equipment. Additionally, it improves day-to-day job functions and expands opportunities for people with disabilities, including veterans, employed through the Program who support the federal customer.

In 2025, there were over 2,600 promotions for employees with disabilities across SourceAmerica’s nationwide network! Employees can utilize SourceAmerica’s employment resources, including the SourceAmerica Training Academy, to learn and grow their skills. Employers within the network also encourage their employees through a variety of workplace supports to pursue pathways to promotions and career advancement.

It was a great night for SourceAmerica staff who attended last night's congressional baseball game at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. The game has been an annual tradition since 1909 and supports bipartisan congressional efforts by providing an opportunity to build friendships across the aisle. The game raised more than $3.2 million through fundraising and ticket sales, surpassing the previous year’s record of $2.8 million. America250 and SourceAmerica were sponsors for the event and are promoting activities throughout the year to celebrate 250 years of American history and independence. In addition to supporting the historical milestone, SourceAmerica staff were excited to share their support for people with disabilities, including veterans, and their contributions to the workplace through the Program.

Introducing the winner of the 2026 Tom Miller Advocacy Award: Irving Middleton!

With a journey defined by perseverance and leadership, Irving Middleton has become a valued team member at Palmetto Goodwill and a strong advocate for others. After facing major health challenges, including kidney failure, vision loss, and amputation, he rebuilt his career and now serves as a custodian at the Naval Information Warfare Center. A father of two and community leader, Middleton also champions disability awareness through advocacy and outreach efforts.

In a world where technology grows in every aspect of our lives, being able to understand it and work with it becomes a requirement for the 21st century workforce. IT-related skills are also something all employers look for when hiring, especially for people to support government contracts.

Whether it's cybersecurity, data management, or artificial intelligence, we know the need for IT-related services is growing in the federal and commercial sectors. What may not be as commonly known is an underutilized part of the workforce that is able and ready to fill those roles. As a national nonprofit that helps administer the AbilityOne Program, SourceAmerica connects people with disabilities including veterans to employment opportunities through a nationwide network of AbilityOne federal contractors. Right now, that also means leaning into those 21st century technology ventures and preparing people with disabilities to fill more IT-related services for federal customers. Michael Fett enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 27 to learn new skills and access the GI Bill to attend college. While on active duty, Micheal had a seizure. He was medically discharged after five years of service. Michael went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Arizona State University. He worked as a high school teacher and found traditional classroom teaching difficult without accommodations for his service dog.

Eventually he made his way to the Veterans Administration Vocational Rehabilitation program. In March of 2019, Michael started as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) for the National Passport Information Center. Peckham Inc. provided accommodation for his disability and allowed him to work with his service dog. In 2021, Michael earned a position as an Advanced Applicant Line CSR.

SourceAmerica’s nationwide network continues to support career pathways for veterans’ employment.

Congressman Mark Takano was recently accompanied by CW Resources, Inc. for a tour of March Air Reserve Base, where he met with employees who support the U.S. military through the production of quality products and essential services. The meeting was particularly meaningful to Takano, as he is the ranking member of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs.

Additionally, Congressman Mike Flood met with Goodwill Specialty Services and toured U.S. Strategic Command. He learned about Goodwill’s support of the federal facility and met directly with AbilityOne employees.

SourceAmerica is also excited to celebrate several new Congressional Champions. We are proud to recognize Congressman Ben Cline who was joined by Piete Casius from Friendship Industries, Inc., and Congressman Richard Neal, who was joined by Andrea Cook from WORK Inc.
