🇺🇸 A Unique Learning Experience at Parris Island 🇺🇸

Mrs. Hersman recently had the opportunity to spend three days at Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot, gaining a firsthand look at Marine Corps training and the many career paths available to students.

During the visit, she learned not only about the boot camp process but also about the wide range of career opportunities within the Marine Corps—many of which provide valuable skills and certifications that transfer directly into the civilian workforce.

The experience highlighted something important: while the Marines are one of the primary fighting forces defending our nation, they also place a strong emphasis on developing their Marines, supporting their families, and preparing them for long-term success both during and after service.

This was a truly rewarding experience, and Mrs. Hersman is excited to share what she learned with students who may be interested in exploring these opportunities.

I chose to become a part of the Marine Corps because it offered exactly what I was looking for which was growth, challenge, and the chance to become a better version of myself.
I was searching for an environment that would build my character, hold me accountable, and push me to live by a higher standard every day. The leadership development gave me the opportunity to learn how to make decisions under pressure, take care of others, and lead from the front both in uniform and in my community.
I also wanted to gain real, practical skills that translate beyond the military. The technical experience I’ve gained has prepared me for the future and opened doors I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
For me, the Marine Corps wasn’t just about serving, it was about finding purpose, building resilience, and becoming the person I set out to be. It’s not just what I do, it’s who I’m becoming.
