đź‘“ Students Turning Vision Into Service!

Three Villa Park High School students, David, Isaac, and Morgan, founded a nonprofit program in partnership with the Lions Club in 2024 with a mission to collect donated eyeglasses and help give them a second life.

The students have created donation boxes and placed them throughout the community to collect used glasses. Once collected, the glasses can be measured using the Lions Club’s lensometer, sorted by prescription, and prepared for distribution to those in need.

Their work also focuses on vision education and awareness, making this much more than an eyeglass collection project. ❤️

We loved hearing from Roy Berelowitz, David, Isaac, and Morgan and learning about their efforts and ideas for expanding the program. They are now exploring ways to partner with the Villa Park Rotary Club and grow their impact.

✨ More information coming soon on how YOU can help, donate glasses, and support this student-led initiative!

Craft Talk Spotlight: Jeff Roberts 🌟

This morning, we had the pleasure of hearing Jeff Roberts share his story during his Rotary Craft Talk.

Jeff was born in Los Angeles and moved to Sonoma County at age five. In 1975, he headed to San Diego State, where his path took an unexpected turn. After one year, he left college and began working at WAXIE Sanitary Supply. What started as a job became an incredible 49-year career, eventually leading Jeff to serve as President of the company.

Along the way, Jeff met his wife, May, at San Diego State. They’ve now celebrated 45 years of marriage, raised three children, Michelle, Alex, and Joe, and enjoy spending time with their eight grandchildren and two dogs. ❤️

Jeff’s story is also one of service. From becoming an Eagle Scout and serving as a Congressional Intern, to his work with the San Diego Police Foundation and now as a docent at the Nixon Library, giving back has remained an important part of his life.

One of the highlights was hearing Jeff share the mantras that have guided him throughout his career and life, especially the importance of serving others, something that connects perfectly with Rotary’s “Service Above Self.”

Thank you, Jeff, for sharing your journey, lessons, and 49 years of experience with us! 💙💛

💧 Today’s Rotary Craft Talk!

A big thank you to our guest speaker, Andrew Wiesner, P.E., General Manager of Serrano Water District, for joining us today and sharing an inside look at how our community’s water system works.

With nearly two decades of experience in water systems engineering and management, Andrew shared insights into Serrano Water District, our local water supply, groundwater resources, and several major upcoming projects, including Well No. 6, reservoir improvements, and mainline replacements.

We appreciate Andrew taking the time to educate our club about the important work happening behind the scenes to provide reliable and sustainable water for our community. 💧👏

National Night Out in Villa Park!

What a wonderful evening bringing our community together for National Night Out! Villa Park Rotary was proud to be part of a night filled with neighbors, families, local organizations, and our incredible first responders.

Events like this remind us what makes Villa Park so special—a strong sense of community, meaningful connections, and people who genuinely care about one another. 💙

A big thank you to our local law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the evening such a success. We loved seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new ones!

Community. Connection. Service Above Self. That’s what Rotary is all about. 💛💙

This week’s Rotary Craft Talk was one to remember!

We had the pleasure of hearing from Mike Clement, better known as Santa Claus, who shared his incredible life journey and the passion behind bringing joy to children.

From growing up in a strict military family and overcoming challenges as a young man to building a successful career in the water treatment industry and eventually owning his own business, Mike’s story was one of resilience, perseverance, and purpose.

For the past 34 years, Mike has dedicated his time to portraying Santa Claus for nonprofit organizations—completely free of charge. Today, he participates in 18–22 Santa events each year, not for recognition, but to create meaningful moments with children. His philosophy is simple: Santa is about connection, conversation, and making every child feel special—not just taking a quick photo.

Thank you, Mike, for reminding us that the greatest gifts we can give are our time, kindness, and genuine care for others. Your dedication truly embodies the Rotary motto of Service Above Self. ❤️🎄
