NARCOTICS ARREST: NEAL BLANCHARD
On August 18, 2026, Narcotic Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office which conducting criminal patrol, agents conducted a traffic stop on East Main Street in Ville Platte La. Upon agents making contact with the driver, who was 62-year-old white male, identified as Neal Blanchard.

Throughout the course of the investigation agents seized and took the following actions:

Methamphetamines

Neal Blanchard was arrested and charged with La Rs Code 40:967 Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (Methamphetamine) Blanchard was also cited for traffic infraction.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct a DUI Saturation Patrol tonight, August 29, 2026, from 8:00 PM until 4:00 AM. This operation is part of EPSO's ongoing commitment to reducing impaired‑driving crashes and protecting the residents of Evangeline Parish.

Deputies will deploy marked units, unmarked units, and specialized traffic enforcement personnel trained in impaired‑driver detection. Patrols will focus on areas with a history of alcohol‑related crashes, late‑night traffic violations, and impaired‑driving complaints.

VEHICLE & PROPERTY THEFT WARNING -EVANGELINE PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE
Over the past month, Evangeline Parish has experienced multiple vehicle and property thefts, many occurring in broad daylight. The Sheriff's Office is issuing a stern warning to all residents-especially farmers, construction workers, and anyone who leaves keys in their vehicle or leaves a vehicle running.

Thieves are acting quickly, often taking property while owners are only steps away. Daytime activity does not deter them.


WHAT YOU MUST DO TO PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY
Secure All Vehicles - Remove keys, shut off engines, lock doors, and never leave equipment unattended while running.
Lock All Property - Barns, sheds, trucks, tractors, trailers, and construction equipment should remain locked at all times.
Document Vehicle Information - Keep your license plate number, VIN, make, model, and color written down and easily accessible.
Record Trailer Details - Maintain serial numbers, identifying marks, and photographs of your trailers and equipment.
Stay Vigilant - Theft is occurring during daylight hours. Pay attention to unfamiliar vehicles, individuals, or activity near your property.
Report Suspicious Activity - Call immediately if something feels out of place.

Public Service Announcement - Bail & Warrant Scams Targeting Our Community

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office has received credible information that individuals are contacting family members of incarcerated persons and attempting to extract money by falsely claiming they can secure an inmate's release from jail.

Bail Scam Warning
A caller may claim:

A relative can be released immediately if payment is made.
Money must be sent urgently to "process" an ankle monitor or bond.
These claims are false. The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office does not contact family members to request money, arrange bonds, or facilitate inmate release. Any such call is an attempt to defraud you.

If you receive a call like this, contact the Sheriff's Office immediately at 337‑363‑2161.


Warrant Scam Warning
A second scam has been reported in which callers tell citizens:

They have an active warrant.
They must stay on the phone.
They must travel to the Sheriff's Office while remaining on the line.
This is also a scam. The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office will not call you to inform you of a warrant. If a warrant exists, deputies will come to your residence; they will not demand compliance over the phone.

Major Arrest & Methamphetamine Seizure - Ville Platte, LA
On July 1, 2026, Narcotic Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office arrived at the residence of Billy Robinson, located at 1070 Gas Street, Ville Platte, Louisiana, to execute a Felony Warrant.

During the operation, Agents conducted field interviews that led to the discovery and seizure of illegal narcotics and evidence of criminal activity occurring in the presence of a minor.
