Then, the Library will be open on Wed., May 20th from 8 am-5 pm. Not sure if the library will be open on Thursday, May 21st or not. . . still working on that one. See what happens when the Librarian double-books herself. 😆

Thank you to everyone who replied to my strange list of items needed for our Summer Reading Program at the library. I will be posting the list of programs soon, but I'm in great need of volunteers for a few programs:

Wednesday, June 3rd from 10-11 in front of the library. This is the first program of the summer, and there may be 5 participants or 35. I am in need of a couple more sets of hands to help tie knots in panty hose, helping measure out grass seed, and helping fill the stockings with wood chips.

Tuesday, June 23rd from 5:30-7:00 in front of the library with tie dye t-shirts. I need help to mix bottles of dye and fixative as needed, pour out dyed water and refill with fresh water. Also someone to supervise the microwaves.

Wednesday, June 24th from 10-11 at the Community Building. We are making glass marble sun catchers with lids and clear glue. I need a few more hands to supervise the amount of glue being squeezed into the lids and around the glass marbles. Could be a sticky situation.

Wednesday, July 1st from 10-11 at the Community Building. We are decorating white t-shirts with permanent markers. I need a couple of adult volunteers to spread the shirts outside on the plastic and spraying with rubbing alcohol to blend the colors. Children can pick up their shirts the next day at the library or wait until the water fight finale.

Here's my annual "Wish List" of strange items for our summer reading program. This year's theme is "Plant a Seed, READ!"

clean nylon knee-highs or pantyhose-need 15 or more pair
vegetable seeds-lettuce, beans, peas, cucumbers, pumpkins, zucchini, squash, etc.
partial bag of wood chips-small flakes, more like sawdust
4 bags potting soil
10 14-inch flower pots
plastic plant saucers that fit under the flower pots
clear plastic Solo cups
plastic zipper sandwich and gallon bags
8 bottles 70% rubbing alcohol
colored Sharpie or other permanent markers
drywall compound-leftover from other projects will work
1 bag Vermiculite
25 1-inch or larger bristle paint brushes--used is great!
2 dozen clean glass pint jars
2 dozen pint canning flats and rings
1 dozen clean ice cream buckets with lids

The library regrets to announce that there will NOT be a Holiday Home & Business tour this year. The date just didn't work out for many. But look forward to 2026 with a new date!!!!
