Today we are featuring Lead Lineman, Josh Hill! ⚡

Josh has been part of the WIN Energy REMC team since January 2013 and currently serves as a Lead Lineman. He began his career in the electric utility industry at Hendricks Power Cooperative in June 2004, giving him more than 22 years of experience. Josh has associate’s degrees in architectural drafting from Vincennes University and linework from Ivy Tech Community College. He also earned his Journeyman Lineman certification through IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and completed the REAP (Rural Electric Apprenticeship Program).

Josh says no two days are quite the same when working as a lineman! You might find him connecting new electric services for members, replacing poles or performing maintenance to help keep the lights on. His favorite part of the job is getting to work outdoors and doing something different each day.

For anyone interested in becoming a lineworker, Josh recommends getting a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and being prepared to work outside of normal business hours in all kinds of weather conditions. While the work isn't always easy, Josh says it's a rewarding career, especially knowing that not everyone can do the job.

Our next employee we are spotlighting is member service representative, Natalie McKinney! ⚡

Natalie has been a part of the WIN Energy REMC team since July 2022, serving as a Member Service Representative. She has an associate’s degree from Ivy Tech Community College. At the office, you can find Natalie greeting members, answering phone calls, processing payments and mail, setting up new accounts and entering service orders. Her favorite part of the job is getting to help our members, work alongside her coworkers and give back to the community through volunteer opportunities. For anyone considering a career in the electric utility industry, Natalie encourages them to be open to learning something new every day. The industry is always changing, and while it can seem overwhelming at first, a willingness to learn can go a long way. One thing Natalie especially appreciates about WIN Energy REMC is the way the cooperative cares for both its employees and the communities it serves. As she puts it, “WIN Energy is a great place to work!”

The first employee we are going to feature for Careers in Energy Week is Zach Gower, Director of Engineering! 💡

Zach joined the WIN Energy REMC team in January 2026 as our Director of Engineering. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and is also a licensed Professional Engineer. When it comes to Zach’s day-to-day responsibilities, no two days are ever quite the same! Much of his time is spent looking at our electrical system and finding ways to address potential issues before they become bigger problems. His favorite part of the job is tackling the unique challenges that come his way, keeping him on his toes and making each day a little different. For anyone thinking about a career in the electric utility industry, Zach’s advice is to ask questions and always be willing to learn. There are so many experienced people in the industry who have valuable knowledge to share, and he encourages those just starting out to take advantage of every opportunity to learn from them.

Each October, electric cooperatives throughout the state take part in Community Day, where employees volunteer their time to help an organization in their service territory. This year, WIN Energy REMC volunteered at Merom Camp and Retreat Center. Employees moved furniture, cleaned, trimmed trees, and more. Thanks for having us!
