Vincennes Tree Board and Landscape Commission The Tree Board is made up of people dedicated to beautifying Vincennes by overseeing the planting and maintenance of the city’s trees.

he Vincennes Tree Board is responsible for managing the planting, maintenance, and removal of street trees, defined in Vincennes ordinances as “Trees, shrubs, bushes and all other woody vegetation on land laying between property lines on either side of all streets, avenues or ways within the city.” The board consists of five volunteer members serving three-year terms. The members are appointed by

the Mayor and approved by the City Council. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm in the City Council chambers at Vincennes City Hall, 201 Vigo Street.

Shane and his son attended our meeting this evening as representatives of their Cub scout troop. Through social media we became aware that they were wanting to plant some trees as a project. We are all proud to say we voted unanimously to use $500 from our special projects fund that is made up of donations for these young future leaders to help beautify our community. If you would like to donate to that fund for projects like this, please contact any board member or feel free to reach out here for further information.

We had a nice Arbor Day celebration this morning at Gregg Park. Thanks to the Mayor's office for the proclamation, the Vincennes Park department for the appreciation and placement of trees, and VU students for helping plant the trees.

Check out the new Flowering Dogwoods, Eastern Redbud, and Red Maple along the Washington Ave side the next time you visit the park.

We would like to thank Back2Health for their fundraiser and their $1,600 donation to help beautify Vincennes.

The Vincennes tree board is happy to announce that the RDC has provided funding for an additional 25 trees to be planted this fall. The trees will not only help beautify the city but also provide a respite from the heat of summer and the cold of winter.
