On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free. Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States and serves as a reminder that freedom, equality, and justice have often required continued struggle to become reality.

Today is , a day to honor history and reflect on the meaning of freedom.

Hey everyone. Due to several members of our leadership team being tied up with work, family, and other commitments this week, we’re going to cancel this month’s KCYD meeting and regroup for next month.

We’re still very committed to building this organization and continuing the momentum we’ve created together; sometimes life just stacks up all at once, especially for a grassroots group run by volunteers. We appreciate everyone’s patience and continued support, and we’ll have more updates soon about upcoming meetings, projects, and ways to get involved.
