Vine Grove is creating a Legacy Walk!!! Get your Brick Now.

Vine Grove Legacy Walkway gives families, friends, businesses, and community members an opportunity to create a permanent reminder of someone special.

By purchasing an engraved brick, you can honor or remember a loved one, celebrate a special occasion, recognize a family or organization, or simply leave your own family name as a part of our community’s history.

Each brick becomes a lasting part of the walkway, a place where generations to come can walk, read the names and messages, and remember the people and stories that helped make our community what it is today.

Hi friends, I want to take a minute to address a situation that occurred in our city that it is making the rounds on social media.

Friday morning our Vine Grove Police Department was contacted for assistance by Immigration and Customs Enforcement regarding an arrest that they were attempting to make in our City limits. I knew nothing about any of it until well after the fact. That’s not unusual, that’s why we have a Police Chief, to handle those situations.

The job that ICE is directed to do is different than the job we task our VG Police Officers to perform. Our Officers are trained to be municipal Police men and women who protect our city, they do a great job of it. We will never have our Police Dept out looking to round up illegal immigrants without a warrant or without a one off request from ICE for assistance. That’s not our responsibility.

As always, Our officers responded and assisted another (Federal) law enforcement agency that requested assistance. This isn’t out of the ordinary for any municipal Police agency. We will always assist Federal, State, County, and other City departments anytime they need us. That’s how Law Enforcement agencies are supposed to work, together.

This was an isolated incident. Thankfully, the man in question was taken into custody without any injury or issues.

It is important for our Police officials to know what is going on in our City. We always appreciate any outside law enforcement agency giving us a heads up before operating in our jurisdiction.

Because our involvement was in a support capacity only and this is a Federal case, I would ask that any requests for information be directed to the proper Immigration officials.
