The countdown is complete, the guesses are in, and our Barse Bear Players are ready to take center stage!

We’ve kept you guessing, dropped the hints, and narrowed it down to TWO possibilities… but now it’s time to find out which show will bring the magic to our stage this spring!

Happy Sunday, Bear Families! Here’s a quick look at what’s happening this week at Dane Barse Elementary:

🎃 The PTO Pumpkin Decorating Contest begins this week! Students will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite decorated pumpkin, and the winning pumpkin will earn a gift certificate to Five Below or Target!

❤️🩶 Thursday – Red & Gray Spirit Day!
We’re showing our Vineland pride! All students and staff are encouraged to wear red and gray.

⏰ Friday – 2:05 PM Early Dismissal
Please plan accordingly for our early dismissal.

🎃🚗 Trunk or Treat is Coming!
We are still in need of cars and families willing to decorate their vehicles for our upcoming Trunk or Treat. If your family is able to participate, we would greatly appreciate your support!

📚 And finally… ATTENDANCE!
Thank you, Barse families, for your continued support of our attendance initiatives. So far this month, we have had 95% or higher attendance EVERY SINGLE DAY! 👏

📚 Genre “Book Tasting” Day in Third Grade! 🍽️📖

Our third graders explored a variety of book genres during this fun, hands-on reading activity!

Students worked in small groups to “taste” different books, discuss what they liked or disliked, identify each book’s genre, and recognize the characteristics that helped them determine the genre.

This engaging activity encouraged students to think more intentionally about genres, discover their own reading preferences, and explore books they might not typically choose for themselves. Who knows? They may have discovered their next favorite book! 💛📚

💙 Bears Who Care!

A huge Barse Bear shout-out to Amir, Jaceona, Autumn, and Aeden for showing what it means to be a Bear Who Cares! These students have been going above and beyond by helping with classroom clean-up and organization, welcoming new students, and offering to lend a hand without even being asked.

Their kindness, helpfulness, and willingness to make our school a better place truly embody the Barse Bear way!

🐚🔍 What Lives in a Shell? 🐢🌊

Our kindergarten Bears became little scientists today as they explored the fascinating world of shells! Students listened to a story, sorted animals into land and water categories, and rotated through hands-on exploration stations where they used magnifying glasses to observe different shells up close.

Learning through curiosity, discovery, and hands-on fun! 💙💛🐻

💗 Week of Respect — Day 5! 🐻💗

We wrapped up our Week of Respect by wearing PINK! 💗 Today, our Barse Bears showed their support for the brave and courageous individuals who have battled breast cancer, those who continue to fight, and the families who stand beside them.

Our final day was a beautiful reminder that respect goes beyond our words and actions. It means showing compassion, spreading awareness, and supporting one another through life’s challenges.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our Barse Bears and staff for making this week a PAWSitive celebration of kindness, compassion, and respect! 🐻

Week of Respect — Day 4! 🐻

Today, our Barse Bears were reminded of the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would want to be treated! 💛

Our Bears were encouraged to wear gold as a reminder that kindness, compassion, and respect can brighten someone else’s day.

Our Week of Respect lessons with our guidance counselor, Mrs. Rhoads, continued today as students learned what it means to be a bucket filler! 🪣💛 They talked about how our words and actions can either fill someone’s bucket or dip into it, and how small acts of kindness can make a BIG difference.

Students also had the opportunity to choose a little something to take with them, a bracelet, bookmark, sticker, or keychain, as a special reminder to choose kindness and be a bucket filler wherever they go! 💙

Another PAWSitive day of learning, kindness, and respect at Dane Barse! 🐻💛
