Many of you know we just wrapped up a 12-month grant cycle, during which we helped 935 victim-survivors with critical safety and security advocacy and services.

Our original goal was 450, so we beat that by an amazing 108%! As we head into the next 12 months, we’re gearing up for even more growth and impact.

Reflecting on both where we’ve been and where we’re going, I’m reminded that this level of support for victims wouldn't be possible without the backing of friends and supporters like you.

Over the past 12 months, we projected we’d help 500 individuals find safety from domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other forms of abuse and violent crime.

Thanks to your support, we didn't just meet that goal, we far exceeded it, helping 935 people... and counting. While we won't reach my stretch goal of 1,000, this small-budget agency with a big reach has made a tremendous impact over the last year.

Today, in what’s a typical day for us, we:

•Helped numerous individuals successfully navigate their restraining order applications

•Continued support for a young mother navigating a dangerous situation with restraining order violations and false CPS reports

•Continued assistance and support to a stalking victim

•Successfully intervened with a landlord on behalf of a domestic violence victim

•Guided another domestic violence survivor through the process of confidential relocation

• Assisted a mother with the proper legal guidance concerning relocation with a child and a realistic plan for relocation

None of this would be possible without our supporters. Thank you for standing with us to make safety possible to those who need it most. 💙

In the last 11 months, we’ve had the privilege of helping over 800 individuals take critical steps toward safety, security, and hope.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of people like YOU... our community of supporters, fellow advocates, and our partners. 💙

But there’s still much more work to do!

For many, the difference between safety and danger... between life and death... is often access to the right guidance and support.

Your support provided those critical services. Together, we will ensure that more victims have the guidance they need to escape dangerous situations and navigate a safer future.

I'm really very proud of this number and I want to thank everyone who has supported us from our humble beginnings, because this type of impact just isn't possible without your support.

PROTECTION FROM ABUSE will close out our 12-month grant reporting period having helped over 900 victim-survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other abuse and violent crime. We originally projected 500 individuals per 12-month period.

And that doesn't count the 100s of victim advocates we have trained over the last few years who will use what we taught them to better assist all the victim-survivors they serve.

Thank you to all our amazing supporters and especially thank you for caring about some of the most vulnerable among us.

GROWN MAN PUNCHES 7-YEAR-OLD SON IN THE CHEST??!!

Some days I just have to push my chair away from my desk and take some time. Like today. I literally had to walk outside and I started sweeping water off our patio areas after the heavy rains here. Sweeping water... while I reminded myself it's okay to feel an emotion other than anger because frankly I feel pretty sad and a little overwhelmed right now.

Anyway, I'm just venting but I'm also mindful to be grateful for everyone who supports our important work so that we may be here for those who need us. We already worked with mom to make sure the child received proper medical care, a restraining order, and I just hung up the phone after coordinating with the childcare facility to make sure the father cannot pick up the other 2 children from daycare. We will continue to be there for the mom and the children to advocate for their safety.

I think I'll find my way to the river later today.

Our clients always inspire my work.

Months ago, a desperate mother reached out for our assistance after losing custody of her children. She was previously misguided by her local domestic violence advocate to flee her home state with her children. Her abuser, and the father of her children went to the police and filed an emergency petition with family court. She was located, and told to return to the State or face arrest. When she returned, she lost custody of the children.

While relocation can reduce the risk of future violence if executed properly, the option to leave the state often isn’t legally available for survivors with children. Even long-distance in-state relocations with children can pose legal challenges."
