Last week The Palace and Friends of Historic Vineland sadly lost another one of our most loved and valuable Volunteers, Ed Ross. Ed passed away September 19th after a very courageous battle with Prostate Cancer. Ed was one of our most passionate Volunteers and a longtime supporter of everything Vineland History. He participated in every event he could from Founders Day to various Palace and Vineland Historical events. He also portrayed many historical figures through the years. He always had a smile on his face, gave his all, and was willing to lend a hand wherever and in any way he could. He will be sorely missed here at The Palace and by The Friends of Historic Vineland. Our thoughts and prayers are with his Family.

Willpower in the face of Adversity is the simplest explanation of why we do things at The Palace. George Daynor did it, my Father did it, and I hope to be able to represent that and pass it on also. The Palace has thrown every challenge at Daynor and my Father in the past, and now Myself. But it will go on long past any of us! Why? Because people believe in things when they see what Man can truly do with nothing but sheer willpower and determination.

All three of our Stories both inside and outside The Palace deal with powering through the sometimes overwhelming Adversities life has thrown at us. And if its anything we want people to take away from The Palace, its the determination to keep going against all odds!

The Palace is merely a physical monument to that. In the long run its not us that will be remembered, we are just carriers of an idea. And perhaps one day the Palace Building itself will crumble and be forgotten again as it initially was. However its about the idea of what could be done against all odds with nothing but sheer willpower that we hope will live on!

Thank you to Atlas Obscura today for writing about The Palace and what my Father believed in and dedicated his life to, as well as the small Volunteer Staff at The Palace, and the Community through the years for keeping a Man’s Dream alive!

We get asked daily if we are open yet?

The answer is, we are not quite ready to open to the Public yet.

We were hoping to be open through the summer months by August at the latest but we decided to undertake the massive job of completing the rear roofing structure of The Palace this year. That, along with much needed maintenance, repairs, and improvements on both The Palace building and Museum Building are taking much longer than we expected. We are still working hard and hope to open The Palace and Museum to the Public as soon as possible. We will make an announcement here on our page when we are ready to open. Thank You everyone for your patience and we hope to see you soon!

A few months back The Palace put in for a small financial Grant to assist us with some of the projects going on there. We are happy to announce that we were chosen as one of the recipients for a Grant Award👍🏻. Every little bit helps here at The Palace and the proceeds will certainly help with the current maintenance, repairs, and renovations we are working hard on at The Palace. We are still working as hard as we can daily to hopefully re-open to the Public soon.

Remember back in October 2019 when we hosted a Horror/ Thriller Movie Shoot at The Palace? Well after being released on limited platforms last year, The Retaliators Movie (which used The Palace and a few other Vineland Landmarks as shoot locations) is finally being released in Theaters. Keep an eye out and look for The Palace in the Movie.

Today Palace of Depression Restoration Association Vice President Steven Medio set a single brick next to the Wishing Well in tribute to longtime Volunteer Ernie Marcacci. The Wishing Well in The Palace was built by Marcacci several years ago.

At 92 Ernie is our oldest living Volunteer, who has been with us for many years. And amazingly he still slings concrete better than most Volunteer’s half his age! We hope and wish him many more great years and thank him for his Volunteer contributions to The Palace.

Thank You Janel for the positive press on The Palace project. Everything is still progressing very well at The Palace and we hope to complete all our projects in the next few months and re-open our doors once again! Keep an eye out on our page👍🏻

The original building was made by a man who lost everything in the Stock Market Crash of 1929, a local resident said.

Slow but steady progress on the Metal Roofing on the lower back side of The Palace! If you’ve ever been to The Palace, you know that there are no square edges or walls anywhere. While that adds to the Artistic value of The Palace and its walls, it makes it extremely difficult to design, engineer, and complete this type of roofing structure.

Palace of Depression Restoration Association Vice President Steven Medio has been tackling it daily though and working around any and all obstacles to get it done. We hope to have it done soon, along with all the other major maintenance, repair, and renovation projects so we can open up to the Public again and everyone can enjoy The Palace daily👍🏻

🛑 POST UPDATE APRIL 17, 2022🛑

🛑Trespass Incident at The Palace🛑

The individual who Trespassed at The Palace reached out to us, apologized, and fully acknowledged their mistake. As a result we agreed to remove their personal information from our post below. If you also made a comment with the individuals personal info we would please ask that you delete it, out of respect for them stepping up and doing the right thing. Please everyone, we take matters of Trespassing very seriously there, even if you are just a curiousity seeker and do not have ill intentions. We cannot afford to have anyone get hurt on the property when no Staff is present. Please contact us at our email if you want information, have questions, or to set up a visit. Although we cant accomodate everyone right away at times. We always do our best to and answer almost every email/ message we get promptly

Not only do we have the self shot video of you and your Friend, that you so nicely posted in April of yourself Trespassing back in November on The Palace property. But we also picked you up on our own Video Surveillance System and have that video also. And unfortunately for now, due to the circumstances, we cannot give you our permission to use those “shots” of The Palace you took (while Trespassing on the property) for footage in your music video. Had you contacted us in the proper way (which is posted near the “No Trespassing” signs you clearly acknowledge in your video at our Driveway), we would have been more than happy to try to accomodate you and your Friend. But since you decided to take it upon yourself and Trespass on the property without permission, we will give you a few days to contact us via our email listed on our page before we contact and turn the video footage and your information over to the Police. Which trust us, we would rather avoid doing, as we want to welcome every one at The Palace in due time.

There is a clear reason why The Palace is posted with ”No Trespassing” signs everyone, and why it is strictly enforced there. It is for the safety and security of our Guests, Us, and The Palace itself. We cannot have people simply wandering around the property when we are closed. One of the main reasons is also due to past vandalism and theft that significantly impacted and delayed The Palace project in the past. The entire Palace site is regularly Patroled by the Police Department and has off site monitored Video Surveillance in place that covers the entire property. Please everyone, contact us at our email if you would like information about how and when to see The Palace. We respond to almost every email we get with those types of questions on a regular basis.

Although we are currently completely closed to the Public as of now for maintenance, repairs, and renovations we are working very hard towards trying to re-open in the very near future. We cannot afford any setbacks, which can easily be caused by people Trespassing on the property. Anyway, thank you for posting your video and we look forward to hearing from you soon👍🏻

Although we always have multiple projects going on at The Palace at any given time, the most major one right now is tackling the rear side lower roofing structure. Palace of Depression Restoration Association Vice President Steven Medio has been hard at work engineering, designing, and building the roofing system. This is one of the most complicated portions of The Palace to complete and it was previously framed and covered with a temporary plastic structure for several years.

We hope we are able to finish it with no speed bumps and soon re-open to the Public by our target date of early to late summer.

As always, we are also in need of skilled Volunteers and monetary Donations to keep The Palace Project going. To donate please click on the Paypal link post at the top of our page. If you would like to Volunteer or simply donate building materials, please message us and/or email us at our email address listed on this page for further information.
