Vinita Rotarians Steven Tamplen (left) and Tom Hopkins (right) from the Vinita Rotary Club recently presented flags donated to Troop 1872 and Pack 1872 during a troop Court of Honor, accepted by Scouts Duncan Abbott and Gideon Abbott representing Scouting America, formerly Boy Scouts of America. The two units are chartered to the First United Methodist Church. Tom is also the Grand Lake District Commissioner.

Vinita Rotary Club President Jeromy McMorris presented over $7,000 in scholarship awards to Vinita and Ketchum Senior Rotarians in May. All Senior Rotarians received a special blue and gold Rotary tassel to wear at graduation. Congratulations to our Senior Rotarians and thank you all for your participation with our club this school year!

Vinita Rotary Club had some great and interesting programs in May, including an update on the ventures of Piguet's Prime Time Restaurant by Carolyn Piguet, left, an advocate of farm-to-fork programs and the opening of a new Piguet's Farm Store, a program about Home of Hope's Equestrian Program, right top, a speaker with the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs Abraham England on State Question 832, and Rotarian Eddy Allensworth updating the club on the Vinita Industrial Development Authority.

Congratulations to Rotarians Steve Tamplen, left photo, who recently received his Paul Harris +4 pin, and Rotarian Tom Hopkins, who received his Paul Harris +3 pin, presented by Rotary President Jeromy McMorris. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition is presented to individuals who have contributed $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation for humanitarian projects. Each additional $1,000 contributed over time is recognized with a new pin with sapphires representing each level of donation. The humanitarian projects worldwide include those such as providing clean water and sanitation projects for third world countries, educational programs, youth programs, and more.

The Vinita Rotary Club, represented by Rotarian Lee Erhardt (third from left) of the Vinita Rotary Foundation, announced a $250 donation to go to the Vinita High School Blue Notes Show Choir to help with expenses for their upcoming performance in Branson in late April. Accepting on behalf of the Blue Notes who performed for the club on Wednesday are Blue Notes Meredith Egnor, Galilea Amador, choir instructor Maria Snider, Blue Notes Parker Goss and Chelsea Hale.
