Today, once again, we are reminded that behind every badge is a son or daughter, a husband or wife, a parent, a friend, and a fellow citizen who willingly accepts the risks of this profession in service to others.

Our hearts are broken for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office as they endure this unimaginable loss. We pray for the fallen deputy’s family, friends, and those who wear the uniform. We pray for comfort that only God can provide, for strength in the midst of unimaginable grief, and for peace in the difficult days ahead. May they find solace in their faith, in one another, and in the knowledge that their loved one’s sacrifice and service will never be forgotten.

🇺🇸 Today, several members of the Vinton Police Department, along with their families, participated in “The Murph,” a challenging Memorial Day workout dedicated to the memory of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a U.S. Navy SEAL who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005. Lt. Murphy was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions and sacrifice during Operation Red Wings.

The Murph Challenge is more than just a test of physical strength and endurance, it is a powerful reminder of service, sacrifice, resilience, and unity. Our officers and their loved ones tackled this demanding workout with determination and pride while honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and supported one another throughout the challenge. A special thanks to BoomTown CrossFit for always welcoming us with open arms. We are proud to serve such a dedicated and spirited community. Together, we are stronger. 💙

As we come together to observe Memorial Day, let us take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who have selflessly served our nation and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage and dedication are the foundation upon which our country stands.

The Vinton Police Department extends our deepest respect and heartfelt thanks to all the courageous men and women who lost their lives, and their families. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed, and we are eternally grateful.
