From the classroom to the field - March's training covered wildland fire operations. We were finally able to conduct an intentional/controlled burn to complete the hands on training, especially beneficial for our newest recruits. Strategy, communication, teamwork... assignment successfully completed.

Please be aware of the elevated risk of vegetation fire potential in and around our area.

Heads up today friends.

Elevated Fire Weather Conditions from Noon to 6 PM...

The combination of low relative humidity values, warm temperatures,
and west-southwesterly winds will result in elevated fire weather
conditions from noon to 6 pm across southwest Wisconsin.
Afternoon relative humidity values will fall to around 20 to 30
percent with winds of 20 to 30 mph, gusting 40 to 45 mph.

Under these conditions, taller, dry vegetation could ignite quickly
and initial fire ignition could quickly spread. Please exercise
caution with any activities that involve outdoor fires or create
sparks, including campfires, grilling, and operating large
equipment. Ci******es should be disposed of and extinguished
properly.
