We have some huge THANK YOU’s to give out for yesterday. During the Big Boy stop in Girard, the heat finally started taking its toll on a lot of people. We had all 3 of our ambulances on yesterday, and that still proved to not be enough. We would like to thank Girard Fire and Rescue, Virden Fire and Rescue, Northwestern Fire and Rescue, Girard Police Department, and Virden Police Deportment. The quick actions of all helped/saved a lot of people yesterday.

A special thank you to Gillespie Benld Area Ambulance Service for sending 2 more ambulances up to help.

Another special thank you to Brandon Tibbs and the other members of the community that stepped in to help at the drink tent when the crew had to respond to emergencies.

We saved this thank you for last because it is the most special one. THANK YOU to the citizens at the event that were helping the overheated. You didn’t have to act, but you did. You have proved that humanity is till alive. It shows that it takes a whole community. Even if you don’t live in the area you were apart of our community yesterday and we are truly grateful to have you be apart of it.

🚨🚨The statement for this years EMS week is Improving Outcomes, Together. On April 3, 2026 John Talbert of Girard, suffered a life changing event. This not only changed his life, but everyone’s lives around him. John’s story is the best testament to the community as to why we are lucky to have an ambulance and the great men and women of the Fire Departments. 🚨🚨ACLS/PALS RENEWAL🚨🚨

We will be doing a renewal course this Saturday May 23, 2026. ACLS will be from 0800-1200 and PALS will be from 1200-1600. The cost is $75 per course or $100 for both. Anyone doing ACLS needs to take the recourse assessment and bring in the certificate.
