Many library jobs require flexibility and independent work. You may have to create your own projects or lesson plans, or you may need more direction in your attempts to meet your assigned duties. This program will discuss the research behind goal-setting and provide practical tips to create goals related to what matters- to you and your library’s mission.

Natalie Browning is a Research Services Librarian at Longwood University’s Greenwood Library in Farmville, Virginia. Natalie is a stereotypical librarian who likes to read and organize; she also likes to run 13.1 miles for fun.

Do you work in a cubicle, or spend multiple hours at a Service Desk? Do
you need a place in the library to relax, have a coffee, listen to music, meditate,
or do some yoga during breaks?
This virtual presentation will show the results of a collaborative project between a library staff member
and a faculty librarian in the creation of a Sanctuary space for library employees to relax and rejuvenate.
Mindfulness practices and time for discussion will be incorporated into our time together.
Remember to add [email protected] to your allowable contacts!

Laura is a Certified Compassion Cultivation Training© (CCT) Instructor, dual-certified by Compassion Institute and Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE). While raising a family around the world, she has witnessed how meeting the challenges of life with compassion can greatly reduce suffering and transform the very things people thought would break them into the most resilient and beautiful parts of who they are. This powerful combination of training and personal experience shape Laura’s commitment to strengthen her own and others’ capacity to thrive, especially through the cultivation of compassion. You can learn more about Laura and her work at www.lauralbanks.com.

Laura will provide information and advice for moving forward with compassion. Compassion training can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and enhance our connection with others. It builds our capacity to engage with our own and others’ difficult experiences from a place of understanding. This interactive workshop will explore how compassion can help us move forward with courage as individuals, families, colleagues, and communities.

This session will be recorded for anyone and everyone to watch at a later date/time! There will also be a Q&A at the end if time permits. We hope to see you there!
