In the words of VBVRS member Rebecca Wrest Rydberg...
"Last night we got to remember, celebrate and honor Jack Dye. Everyone at the Rescue Squad loved and respected Jack for his dedication and enthusiasm. Jack was my friend, he was kind, generous, oh so funny and an amazing story teller. I’m so grateful that his family shared him with us. I hope they know how much we loved him. Jack was the reason I joined the VBVRS honor guard, he was so patient as he taught me to march, salute and he even let this Brit carry a flag!!!
It was my privilege to honor him last night."
Well said, Rebecca. The rest of us agree completely.

Virginia Beach's Park & Landscape Services thanks the sailors of USS Tortuga, led by Steven Riggert, for helping clean up Chic’s Beach after Memorial Day. While we did not have any of the large debris that was expected after Memorial Day, we did pick up an estimated 190 pounds of micro plastic, cigarette buts and more. We plan to partner with them again after July 4th.

Thanks to Sharon for coming out to assist as well. In total we covered about ½ mile of beach.

In light of recent events at the housing resource center, what steps are being taken to ensure the safety of volunteers? I went to a few of your meetings before the center opened and my questions about safety were rebuffed. I also sent an email inquiring the same question, I was told that police would be making patrols through the area But there would be no permanent police presence. Has this changed?
Hello. Do you have any volunteer opportunities during the week or just weekends? I would love to do some volunteer work. How would I found opportunites that I could participant.
