This year the Virginia Beach Development Authority is donating all proceeds from the Tournament to the United Way Virginia Beach Tragedy Fund to support the 16 families impacted by the May 31 tragedy. G2 Ops, a woman-owned small business that provides systems engineering services, cyber security analyses, threat assessments and security consulting received an EDIP grant of $20,000 based on the 10 new full-time positions the company expects to add when it expands its facility located at 2829 Guardian Lane. The wage of the new jobs, excluding benefits, will average $65,000 a year.

SRP held it's ribbon-cutting event On October 23rd. Mayor Dyer spoke and welcomed the new company to Virginia Beach. SRP is a leading supplier to more than 60,000 retailers nationwide headquartered in Castle Rock, Colorado. They consolidated and moved its warehousing operations to Virginia Beach. The company received an Economic Development Investment Program (EDIP) grant of $75,000 from the Virginia Beach Development Authority (VBDA) in recognition of its planned capital investment of $1.160 million over the next four years in the target industry sector of warehouse/distribution. It will occupy 218,680 sq. ft. at 2600 International Parkway.

Stihl opened the doors to its new 80,000 sf state-of-the-art administration building. The new building will house the Finance & Controlling, Sales & Marketing, Legal, and Customer & Technical Services teams.

Mayor Dyer spoke and thanked Stihl for their continued commitment and investment in the city of Virginia Beach. Governor Ralph Northam today announced that 14 companies from across the Commonwealth have graduated from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program. The program, which now has 290 graduates, assists Virginia exporters that have firmly established their domestic operations and are committed to international exporting as a growth strategy.

One Virginia Beach company, Axis Global Enterprises, was among the graduating companies.

VBPD Police Chief James Cervera provided an update on today's tragic shooting at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center, where 11 victims were killed, along with six others injured, including a Virginia Beach police officer.
