We are Team Anglers. Within, you'll find a glimpse into how we train and maintain the #1 Reserve PSYOP unit. We are Psychological Operations Soldiers, NCOs, and Officers assigned to Psychological Operations units within the greater Psychological Operations Regiment, who conduct MISO as our primary mission and provide to support to other mission areas to include, but not limited to, Military Deception (MILDEC) and other areas.

HISTORY Constituted 30 December 1954 in the Army Reserve as the 305th Reproduction Company Activated 17 January 1955 at Chicago, Illinois Location changed 1 June 1957 to Evanston, Illinois Reorganized and redesignated 1 June 1960 as the 305th Psychological Warfare Detachment Location changed 1 March 1963 to Chicago, Illinois Inactivated 1 December 1965 at Chicago, Illinois Redesignated 16 September 1990 as the 305th Psychological Operations Company and activated at Upper Marlboro, Maryland Location changed 16 December 2006 to Fort Story, Virginia Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations have been a part of U.S. military operations since the formation of the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Leafleting and radio broadcasts were part of the engagement strategy during all of the major conflicts of the 20th Century, and [PSYOP] Soldiers were called upon to help restore order and rebuild war-torn nations following World War II through the present day. The more recent history of the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) began in October, 1985 with the formation of the 1st Special Operations Command Augmentation Detachment. This unit of 30 Soldiers formed the nucleus that evolved into the United States Army Reserve Special Operations Command. USARSOC had operational control of Army Reserve Special Forces, Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations units. Following the terrorist attacks on New York and the Pentagon, Civil Affairs andMilitary Information Support Operations Soldiers deployed almost immediately to begin their role in the hunt for international terrorists linked to the Al Qaeda network. Military Information Support Operations Soldiers dropped tens of millions of leaflets and broadcast thousands of hours of radio programs to ensure the Afghan people knew the reason for the invasion. The Military Information Support Operations effort also helped to pave the way for extensive assessments by Civil Affairs Soldiers that led to reconstruction and humanitarian aid projects in the embattled country.
