#VBRescue is proud to have participated and assisted with the 2021 Oceanfront Holiday Parade on Saturday! Members from VBEMS and Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad provided emergency medical support while also participating in the parade convoy.

One of the hallmarks of the VBRescue system is how involved we are within the community. We take pride in where we live and we look forward to serving you the best way we can.

Last Wednesday, Deputy Chief Joey Hundley hosted his second VBEMS Leadership Principles class, this time focusing on levels of leadership!

Each class is a deep discussion on leadership topics and how they directly relate to the #VBRescue system. Chief Hundley's course not only prepares our members for issues outside VBRescue, but helps them apply effective leadership tactics to issues within VBRescue.

Thank you to all of our VBRescue members who attended! Chief Hundley will be teaching his next course in January, so be on the lookout for the next class!

Here at #VBRescue, we embrace our tradition. Volunteers have been the backbone of the VBRescue system for decades and it’s because of people like Tiffany Guilloud and Dave Klinetop that it continues to thrive today.

Tiffany and Dave both serve with the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad and are just two examples of the service and dedication that our volunteers offer. Our volunteer and career providers work together to serve Virginia Beach the best that we can.

Thanks to Tiffany and Dave, who just wrapped up a night shift! Providers, send us pictures of yourselves and your partners and maybe we’ll feature you on social media 👀

Deputy Chief Tom Green has announced his retirement from Virginia Beach EMS, effective Dec. 1.

“Tom Green has made a huge difference for department and to the VB Rescue system,” said VBEMS Chief Ed Brazle. “He contributed as a volunteer rescue squad member, a Captain, Division Chief and ultimately as a Deputy Chief. He led the charge on electronic medical records, modernizing how we collect and use data to improve our service delivery. He was also a tireless advocate for all members, working hard to make this a great place to serve. We’ll certainly miss him and wish him the best of luck in the future.”

Green began his EMS career in 1991 as a member of the Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad. He joined the Chesapeake Fire Dept. in 1993 and served there until 2007, when he was hired as a Captain at VBEMS by Chief Emeritus Bruce W. Edwards.

“It feels good to be able to leave a career and a passion on your own terms and in your own way,” Green said. “Knowing that our City is in the best hands makes my last day here at VBEMS much easier, but it is definitely not emotionless. I will truly miss everyone from a professional and a personal standpoint.”

In total, Green retires with 29 years of service in the EMS industry and 15 years of service to the City of Virginia Beach as a member of VBEMS.

Thank you, Chief Green, for your steadfast leadership and dedication to the VBRescue system. You will be missed!
