5 SIMPLE WAYS TO AVOID A DUI (and not kill yourself or someone else)

1. Be a Designated Driver.

2. Get a DESIGNATED DRIVER.

3. Virginia Beach Police Department's "DO NOT TOW" program.

If you find you've had too much to drink and you are parked in one of the Municipal Parking Lots located at 2nd, 4th, 19th, 25th streets and Rudee Loop, advice the lot attendant that you would like to leave your vehicle in the lot overnight. If a lot attendant is not available, contact a police officer or call (757) 385-5600. A "Do Not Tow" sticker will be affixed to the windshield of your vehicle. Then have a friend or cab drive you home. You have between 8 a.m. and noon the next morning to pick up your vehicle. Municipal Parking Lots close at 12:30 a.m. to new entries. Vehicles must be documented and tagged prior to 2:30 a.m.

4. Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control "SAFE RIDES HOME" program.

A FREE ride home to military men and women from Baxter's, Time and Greenies Restaurant in Norfolk, and Peabody's, Hot Tuna Grill and Shorebreak in Virginia Beach. Just let the bartender know you want to use this program, they will call either Black & White or Norview Cabs. Your destination must be within a 30 mile radius of the establishment.

5. AAA "TOW to GO" program.

From October 30 to January 2, AAA and Annheiser Busch provide a free service for people that have had a little too much to drink. Call 757-631-1700 for a FREE tow to the driver's residence and a ride for the driver. Great deal gets you and your car home safely anywhere in the Hampton Roads area.
