Congratulations to our newest Amphibious Warfare Tactics Instructor (AMW WTI) Captain Kevin Vanous! He was also the recipient of the Iwo Jima Leadership Award for superb leadership qualities displayed throughout the course as selected by his peers. BZ Capt Vanous!
Warrior in the Spotlight:
We are excited to shine the light on ET1 James Morrison. As the Command’s only Electronics Technician, he bears the weight of ensuring that the yearly average of 15,000 personnel who come to EWTGLANT for courses, conferences, meetings, and space utilization are able to execute their events flawlessly. He personally carried out the audio, visual, and technology overhaul to eight classrooms during a multi-million multi-month overhaul of our secure wing …he is the reason we opened on time and were ready to support the Operational Forces knocking on our door! Bravo Zulu!
EWTGLANT echoes the comments within and we've "taken note of the accomplishments"!
Big THANK YOU to all the Warriors out there!

We are excited to shine the light on Sgt Luis Alvarez. He was selected as EWTGLANT’s NCO of the Year for 2019, became our Force Fitness Instructor, attained a 290 CFT score, and was selected for Staff Sergeant! Bravo Zulu ! #AttackFromTheSea
This week EWTGLANT bid farewell to a warrior as he transitions from shore back to sea. Master Guns Donny Erickson tour as the Chief Instructor and Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commanding Officer was marked by extreme professionalism and absolute devotion to the instructor cadre and all the Sailors and Marines who walk the EWTGLANT corridors. He will be missed, but we take solace in knowing that the afloat Navy-Marine Corps team just added more depth to the warfighting bench!

XO, in action spreading his wisdom on the USS Philippine Sea!
Leaders from the baby-boom generation and generation X have wisdom to share. Sometimes it just takes a little time to appreciate it.
Today LtCol Todd Mahar, Director of Operations and Training, gave a presentation on MCDP 1 “Warfighting”. This presentation was a professional military education (PME) event given to the Navy, Marine, Civilian, and Contractor personnel of EWTGLANT.
The presentation today was just one part in a series of PME events at EWTGLANT that seeks to increase the mutual understanding of war fighting ethos and doctrine of both the Navy and Marine Corps.
“Among the men who fought on Iwo Jima, uncommon valor was a common virtue.” -Admiral Chester Nimitz
On the 75th anniversary of the invasion of Iwo Jima, we remember the sacrifice and heroism of the Marines who fought and died in one of the most pivotal battles of World War II.
One team, one fight!
Our mission is to make sure the Marines can accomplish theirs. This is how we do it!

First command competition of the new year, and the gold went to the DOT , silver to the N1, and a very shiny bronze to the N3 departments.
- Individual leaderboard had Chief Sharrar crushing it with a 166, followed by Chief Ortiz with a 161, and Master Guns Redding rounding it out with a 145!
Big thanks to those who also came out to cheer their fellow warriors on.
Thank you spouses for all your sacrifice and support!

Before the 2017 Army-Navy Game, CBS Sports aired an introduction to the game that perfectly shows what it means to go to a service academy, beyond playing the game.
