The Scholarship Foundation of the Navy Wives Clubs of America, Inc. awards up to 30 scholarships annually. The grants are presented with the knowledge that no repayment is expected from the recipient. Those eligible for the grants are the natural born, legally adopted or stepson or daughter of an Enlisted member of the Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard on active duty, or retired with pay or the son or daughter of a deceased member of these categories.
Applicants must have a valid dependent's I. D. card (United States Uniformed Services Identification and Privileges Card). Applicants must show basis of need for financial assistance, have a scholastic standing of at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA), and be a graduate of an accredited high school or its equivalent or will qualify for graduation prior to beginning eligibility for assistance. The Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs have partnered to develop two new Programs for military spouses.
Spouse READI (Resilience Education and Deployment Information) The long-term objective of this study is to develop the protocol and materials for Spouse READI groups that can be disseminated across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA).The study will enroll 225 Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF) spouses. Participants will be randomly placed in one of three groups. This study will implement telephone groups for spouses with service members who have returned from Iraq or Afghanistan. Spouses will receive payment of $25 for answering a series of questions during 3 interviews asking about themselves and the reintegration process, they will receive another $25 payment at the end if they decide to stay for the entire year in the program. This study will stop recruiting for candidates this August.
Spouse Deployed
The long-term objective of this randomized clinical trial is to develop the protocol and materials for Spouse Deployed Telephone support groups that can be disseminated across the Department of Defense (DoD) to spouses across the country. The study will enroll 160 spouses/significant others of Service Members who are deployed overseas. Participants will be randomly placed in one of two groups. Spouses will receive $25 payments for answering a series of questions during 3 interviews asking about themselves and the reintegration process, and an additional payment at the end of the study for a total of $100 if they complete the entire year long program. This program will be recruiting for the next 12 months since it just started.
These programs are voluntary, free and all information will be kept confidential!

"FUNDING A COLLEGE EDUCATION" program—May & June 2012
The Virginia Tidewater Consortium’s Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) will conduct financial aid briefings, “Funding a College Education,” at JEB Little Creek and Naval Station Norfolk.
Dates, times, and locations are listed below.
This program’s focus is on grants & loans from the federal government, the timely application process for student aid, state aid programs, and information will be provided on scholarship searches. A question & answer session will follow each of these presentations. One-on-one appointments can be scheduled with an EOC counselor following the presentation.
Each session includes information that will assist rising high school JUNIORS & SENIORS, parents of all high school students, adult students opting to return to college later in life, plus all others who may be facing the rising expenses of college in the very near future. High school students are encouraged to attend with their parents.
“Funding a College Education” is provided as one of the EOC’s free services to help students and/or parents understand more about financial aid procedures, free FAFSA application processing services, and how to begin & survive the scholarship search.
Local scholarship representatives will be on hand to provide info on their awards, and they always plan to stay after for your specific questions on their program.

This is a partnership between Cox Communications and ACT Today!. They will be hosting a 2 week film camp which will be run by Joey Travolta on Inclusion Films. This is an amazing opportunity for children with autism between the ages of 9-21 to work with professional film makers, use their creativity and form new friendships. Cox will be building a major media plan around the program and we will also have a film premiere in September with viewing of the final film piece.
