It's no secret: the Navy has been growing over the years. And as we've grown, we've had Sailors want to 'stay Navy' at incredible retention rates. This has caused some ratings to be overmanned (and one reason for low advancement quotas for some ratings). A balanced Navy is the end the goal - and so we've open up opportunities for eligible Sailors to submit requests for early
separation, conversions to another rate or transfer to the Fleet Reserve. Are you in an overmanned rating? Talk to your career counselor about which option may be best for you.

Details about each community's health can be found on the NPC website under the respective Enlisted Community Manager section.

Find our if you're rating is eligible for the Enlisted Early Transition Program here: https://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/enlisted/community/Documents/Nov%202020%20Quota%20Table.pdf

This year marks the 79th National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day commemoration to honor the 2,390 American lives lost during the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor and the island of Oahu.

Sailors, Marines, and Soldiers fought back with extraordinary courage, often at the sacrifice of their own lives. Those without weapons to fight took great risk to save wounded comrades and to save their ships. Pilots took off to engage Japanese aircraft despite the overwhelming odds. Countless acts of valor went unrecorded, as many witnesses died in the attack. Fifteen U.S. Navy personnel were awarded the Medal of Honor — ranging from seaman to rear admiral — for acts of courage above and beyond the call of duty, ten of them posthumously.

Please take a moment today to remember those who have gone before us and especially the brave Servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice on this day 79 years ago.

Today we honor and remember those who lost their lives during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Many heroes arose that day, while defending their ship and shipmates. They exemplified our fighting spirit and reminded us that freedom is not preordained. We must always be ready to preserve it.

Petty Officer Advancement Exam Results Update:

Due to the COVID-19 mitigation measures put in place for this cycle’s Navy-Wide Advancement Exam, completion of exams was delayed, which has caused a delay in calculating advancement results. Our advancement teams are working hard to ensure that results reflect scores and related multiples. You can expect a public release of advancement results for E4-E6 on Dec. 18.

Since the SELRES exams concluded a full two months later than usual, there will be also be a delay in those advancement results. Results for SELRES should be expected Dec. 24.

BREAKING: Hampton Roads Navy installations shift to HPCON Charlie

NORFOLK, Va. – Navy installations in Hampton Roads are being ordered to move to Health Protection Condition Level (HPCON) Charlie tomorrow.

The order issued today by Rear Adm. Charles W. Rock, Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, follows an increase in both the number of COVID-19 cases and the positivity rate among the local military and civilian populations.

Installations in the region had been in HPCON Bravo, a less restrictive level, since Sept. 23.

The return to HPCON Charlie means military personnel in Hampton Roads must limit travel to and from their homes to their place of work, with stops only for essential services such as food, medicine and child care. Dining in at restaurants is not allowed, but take-out is authorized.

Military personnel are prohibited from using off-base services such as gyms and barber shops, but may continue to use those facilities on base.

Participation in team sports, going to amusement parks and attendance at parades or other public celebrations is also prohibited. Social gatherings in Sailors’ homes may not include more than 10 guests who don’t live there.

“The health and safety of our Navy family is our number one priority,” Rock said. “We’ve been fighting this virus for a long time, but we’ve still got some more work to do and can’t give in to fatigue. As we enter the holiday season, it’s more important than ever that we look out for each other and ensure our Sailors’ mental health and resiliency remains strong. Check in with one another often and take time to recharge.”

Travel restrictions associated with HPCON Charlie do not apply to personal leave and liberty travel outside of the local area for Navy service members, who must first receive approval from their commanding officers in accordance with Navy regulations. Sailors with specific questions about leave should contact their chain of command.
