Saving Lives One Search At A Time There is required training before a person is certified to change batteries.
The Virginia Beach Project Lifesaver program is a 501(c)3 that works in partnership with the Virginia Beach Police Department to support 250+ clients throughout the city. These clients require the batteries and the bands for their Personal Locator Units (PLU's) get changed every month to ensure they are in good working order. Most of the clients are supported by police officers however, many are b
eing taken care of by a highly dedicated group of civilian volunteers that devote thousands of hours a year in support of the VBPD PL program. Of the 250+ clients, 120 are taken care of by 70 civilian volunteers who come from all walks of life and backgrounds from all over our city. These volunteers come from other volunteer organizations such as: Virginia Beach Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) VBEMS, and Search and Rescue. Other City departments volunteer such as the 911 call center, retired police officers, spouses of these volunteers and everyday citizens who just want to help with this wonderful program. The training takes 4 hours and is conducted whenever there is a sufficient number of citizens who want to join in and help out. Please consider helping this wonderful organization.

Plan Bee Academy needs your help. They are a private day school supporting children with autism and is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) #47-2486135. They are accepting donations of items (gift baskets, gift cards, single items, services, etc.) for the silent auction being held on October 22, 2022, as well as cash donations in the form of a check (credit card users can donate by calling the school directly at 757-375-1560).
If you would like more information on the silent auction, would like to become a sponsor, or have items to be picked up, please let me know! Every little bit helps! In previous years your generosity helped to fund such things as a beautiful playground, a laundry room for students to learn life skills, and currently they are working to complete a covered patio!
Checks should be made payable to Plan Bee Academy & can be mailed directly to the following address:

Come on out to Farmhouse Thursday and raise a glass and money for VBPL!
MPO's Jason Karangelen and Allen Perry with assistance from Gary Zalas with VBSO conducted Project Lifesaver Search Specialist training over 3 days at LETA. They taught officers, civilian volunteers, and a PD Chaplin how to search for people who will frequently become lost. They locate these clients by using a Personal Locating Unit (PLU) which transmits a radio frequency that can be picked up with an antenna receiver. Also assisting but not pictured were Officer C. Mayberry and W. Nash.
