ATC is a partnership with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, the City of Virginia Beach, and Tidewater Community College.

The Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is the result of a partnership between Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach City Public Schools and the City of Virginia Beach. This facility is unique among educational institutions as it offers secondary and post secondary students the highly technical training of today's workforce.

Big decisions start with good conversations!

At the VBCPS Academy Night on October 21, families came with questions and ATC students and ATC staff came ready with answers. Between hands-on projects, program displays, and real stories from the students doing the work, visitors got a firsthand look inside the ATC and a clearer picture of where your next step could take you. 

Thank you to the ATC students and ATC staff who shared their experiences all evening, and to every family who came by our table. We loved hearing about your interests, and we look forward to helping you explore them further. ATC applications are now open!

Big ideas start with little hands!

ATC brought hands-on fun to Woodstock Elementary’s STEM Night! Paper structures, Foil boats, and the Rocking Tower challenge introduced young builders to buoyancy, balance, and structural design, connecting their creativity to ATC’s engineering and architecture programs.

Thank you, Woodstock Elementary, for welcoming us, and to our student volunteers for inspiring the next generation of innovators!

ATC students help the community stay a step ahead of hackers!

ATC Cyber Defense students Elijah Oania and Jack Toomer took the lead at "Cybersecurity for Everyday People," an evening presentation sponsored by ATC's Cyber Tech Innovation Club.

Bringing their classroom knowledge to the podium, Elijah and Jack made a technical topic approachable and shared practical ways to stay safer online. Thank you to our student presenters, Ms. Lavender (ATC Cyber Defense teacher), and the ATC Cyber Tech Innovation Club for providing an engaging learning experience.

The renewable energy industry is saving a seat for ATC students. ⚡

Joe Ford, Nuclear SME with ATC partner 1021 Plus, came to the ATC Guest Speaker Series with a specific purpose: to invite ATC students to explore internships with his team.

Funding has been approved for a middle school nuclear engineering curriculum and digital learning tools, and interns could join the team building them. That means opportunities for students across ATC programs, with work in animation, digital design, modeling, simulation, game development, cyber defense, and more.

Mr. Ford was especially impressed by the programs and opportunities available at ATC, reserving some of his highest praise for our Renewable Energy program. And his words speak for themselves! 🎤

Thank you, Mr. Ford and 1021 Plus, for investing in ATC students and showing them what’s NEXT.
